SAM HAD BEEN captured by the demons, much to Violet and Dean's dismay.
The moment Ellen had explained what had happened when they'd found the demon's base camp, Violet looked over at Dean who seemed to feel extremely guilty about the entire ordeal. Violet assumed that this was because of the argument Dean had with Sam earlier, and the woman flashed him a small smile in an attempt to assure him that everything would be okay. Dean smiled back at Violet, but returned his attention to Ellen almost immediately as he needed to figure out a plan to save Sam, Jo and Rufus.
"It called me a bitch." Ellen sulked, her eyes filled with bitterness as she spoke. Dean couldn't help chuckling at the older woman's expression.
"Bruise a little easy, don't you think?"
"No, that's not what I meant. It called me a black eyed bitch."
Dean was silent for a few moments as he thought about what Ellen had said. Violet simply rocked back and forth on her feet, not having anything to contribute to the conversation. Violet knew the basics about demons thanks to Jackson's journal, but she had no idea what was going on in the town. Apparently, neither did Dean and Ellen.
"What kind of demons are these? Holy water and salt roll right off. My daughter may be an idiot, but she's not stupid. She wears an anti-possession charm. It's all kind of weird, right?"
"The whole thing's off." Dean grumbled in annoyance whilst pulling out a chair from the table beside him and sitting on it, slumping his head in his hands.
"What's your instinct?" Ellen asked him, brows raised as she waited to hear his thoughts on everything.
"My instinct?" Dean scoffed and turned away from the older woman, pausing for a second before he spoke. "My instinct is to call Bobby and ask for help. Or Sam."
"Well tough. All you got's me and Violet, and all I got's you and Violet. So let's figure it out."
The moment Ellen brought up Violet's name, the girl looked away, seeing as though she had absolutely nothing to say.
In all honesty, Violet felt ashamed. She wasn't a skilled hunter, she had no idea about the supernatural – after all, she'd only found out they existed the other day. All in all, she couldn't provide her friends with anything at the moment. The blonde felt as though she was of no use, simply a burden to the two. And so she zoned out of the conversation, instead looking around the room, gazing at the civilians that had joined the crusade.
About twenty minutes passed. It had taken him a while, but Dean had finally figured out what was happening in the small town.
According to the older Winchester, War, one of the four horsemen was in town; messing with the townspeople's heads and making them turn against one another. Violet couldn't help feeling slightly frightened, she knew that she was going to have to help take this man down, and she knew that it wouldn't be easy. Of course, she wanted nothing more than to assist her friends with the situation, the blonde was just worried that she'd mess things up and get in the way.
At that moment, there was a frantic hammering on the door before it was pulled open by one of the townspeople. One of the men Violet had noticed from earlier stumbled inside, clutching his side as he struggled to breathe.
