[Vote if you think Kyle makes a great big brother! :)]

I sat on my bed folding all of my clothes into my purple suitcases. I was extremely tired since we had to get up at 4 in the morning, I let out a long yawn still in my purple checkered bottoms and a black tank top. “you packed yet  Maia?” Kyle asked me propped up against my door frame wearing his favorite sweatpants and hoodie looking tired himself. I gave him a nod and he came in wrapped me up in my jack skeleton hoodie and blanket and carried me to the van, he was such an awesome brother! I fell asleep instantly only to awake to my brother honking at some lunatic who cut in front of us, ugh it was still dark out. “Dumb ass!” Kyle yelled knowing the guy wouldn’t hear him, I looked around saw my mom asleep in the passenger seat all our suitcases filling the back part of our old van.

“Kyle how long have we been on the road?” I asked with a small yawn, yuck I had morning breath.

“Um maybe two hours or so” he took a swig of his coffee and continued to drive as a 21 year old man would. I decided to sleep more as I felt my body crave my bed at home.

“Maia!” Tammy yelled running after the crying Maia ran away after being made fun of by Damon “You know he didn’t mean it Maia, he may be cruel and well stupid but he’s not that shallow.”

Maia gave her a look that meant bull crap and continued to walk with tears still streaming down her plush cheeks. Tammy may have been a small little thing but she played sports so she was strong enough to pull her friend around to give her a hug. “Your brothers a dick” Maia pointed out, they were young for their age to cuss but it was common at where they lived. “Yeah I know I so can’t wait till he leaves the house.” That made Maia laugh and smile she took the sleeve of her purple top and wiped the tears from her eyes. Maia always felt so happy to have a friend like Tammy.

It was near 5 pm and they came around a familiar corner, I remembered the corner since it was the corner Tammy and I walked from school. The neighborhood hadn’t changed a bit maybe a couple new houses here and there along with new neighbors but at least it wasn’t to drastic. I saw the familiar three story house the white paint freshly painted the shutters a still deep earth green the lawn perfectly cut and I noticed Mrs. McAllen had started gardening again only to see absolutely beautiful lilies bloomed and perfect. We pulled up against the curb when I noticed a baby blue Mercedes, odd color but I knew instantly that it was Tammy’s since baby blue was her favorite color. Then the black 2010 mustang shining against the bright sun, Kyle and I walked up to the doorstep while saying good-bye to our mother while she went to our hotel room to clean up for her interview. Damn she was going to be tired looking.

I felt a sense of déjà vu sweep over me as I rang the doorbell remembering the time I ran away from home because I was tired of being made fun of. I smiled once I saw a young looking women smiled from ear to ear as she saw us, Mrs. McAllen. Still beautiful as ever her long blonde hair obviously filled with highlights was pulled back into a neat little bun. Her skin flawless and her baby blues sparkled as she smiled, I could smell the vanilla perfume she use to wear whenever I came over. “Maia! Kyle!” she yelled hoping her kids would hear her. “Oh my Maia, look at you! You’re beautiful! Not that you weren’t before but wow. You could be a model” she winked then turned to Kyle “And Kyle you’re so much bigger! I see you’ve been working out a gym” she hugged us as I hear a girl scream my name from the third floor. “MAAAAAIIIIIAAAAAAA!!!!!” I saw a small petite girl with short bobby hair running down the stairs almost tripping over a couple steps, she ran past her mom and flew her arms around me. “Tammy!” I laughed as we almost tripped, I looked back at her she had the same sparkled eyes that reminded me of cocoa puffs since they were brown. Her hair use to be so long she must have cut it getting tired of the longness to it. “Maia holy crap girl!” she spun me around like a little model observing my extreme weight loss “You look incredible, bet you have boys swooning all over you” she winked “ha ha I wish, single as ever. But look at you miss petite! I love your hair by the way” I could see Tammy’s mom laugh quietly as we complimented each other. “Kyle my man.” The voice was deep and rather sexy to my ears, I looked over to see a tall man with black messy hair wearing a Disturbed band tee shirt giving my brother a hug. Holy shit Damon, I swore my tongue could have started dripping out of my mouth from how sexy I thought he was. “Hey man” Kyle responded as the two of them walked out back to catch up on things.

“You who Maia welcome to planet earth” Tammy motioned her hands in front of my face still staring at the back of Damon.  I took hold of Tammy’s arm as she led me up to the third floor to where her room was, it really hadn’t changed that much. The walls still blue but with not many posters as I expected to see, her bed queen sized and covered with a white polka dotted blanket with of course baby blue.

“How long are you staying?” first questioned that came out of her mouth. “Oh um this week I think unless my mom gets the job then we have to go back and get our things to move into a house soon. Well if we find one” she sparkled with endless excitement “I’ve missed you so much Maia”

I smiled and hugged her seeing the photo of us when we were younger on her nightstand “I’ve missed you too Tammy.”

The two little girls walked hand in hand eating ice cream they got from the ice cream man when Tammy’s mom came out with a camera and took a picture of the two girls smiling and laughing while eating ice cream. “You two are simply adorable!” her mom gushed to the two girls “Thanks Mommy!”

I remembered that day perfectly, it was the last happy day I had with Tammy. I’d never forget it. Never.
