"Juice!"
"Are you out of juice?"
"Yeh."
"I told you, you're only getting one cup of juice till lunch. You want some water?"
"Juice."
"No juice. Water. You want water?"
"Yeh."
Jack reaches back, accepting a large orange sippy cup. At a stop light he manages to dig a bottled water from his back pack, and pour it into the cup before returning it to Jay in the back seat. He had to take off both Monday and today, so he could take care of Jay for a few more days. He'd go back to work tomorrow, but with the vet visit out of the way, it won't be so bad.
He pulls into the parking lot and moves around to the back to let Jay out, releasing the seatbelt from Jay's harness. The boy was happy to be freed from his seat and bounces abit as Jack holds tight to the leash. "Okay. Come on, inside."
"Vet." Jay follows Jack.
"Yup. This is the vet." Jack holds the door for the pet as they come in. He smiles at the lady at the front desk as they walk up. "Hi, I've got an appointment at noon. Jack Pipper."
"Of course Mr. Pipper. Sit and the doctor will be out shortly." She smiles and taps away at her keyboard.
"Pie...per?" Jay follows Jack with a small tug at the leash.
"It's my last name." Jack chuckles and sits. Jay starts trying to climb into in Jack's lap, but when the boy's knee digs into Jack's thigh, abit to close to home, Jack quickly lifts the boy. "There's not enough room. Sit in this chair."
Jay whines as Jack sets him in the chair beside himself. Jay leans into Jack's side, hunches over the armrests as he sits there obediently. "Las' name?"
"Yeah. Most people have three names," he nods. "You just have one. You can have my last name if you want." He smiles at the boy. "Can you say Pipper?"
"Pie..per. Pipper?"
"Yeah buddy. Jay Pipper."
"Jay Pipper." He beams and sits up on his knees in the seat, holding onto Jack's shoulders.
Jack laughs and puts an arm around Jay, kissing his jaw. "That's my boy. So smart."
"Awww, you two are so cute. His name is Jay?" A woman sitting with a cat carrier watches Jay.
"Uh, yeah yeah. Jay." Jackson nudges Jay, "Can you say hi?"
"Hi!" Jay chirps immediately, but looking at Jack with a proud grin.
Jack laughs. "I know you can say hi. I meant can you so hi to the nice people?"
Jay looks over at her, then takes in the rest of the waiting room and begins leaning into Jack and holding tighter to the man. Hiding from the room of eyes that was on him. "Ahhh...hi." His voice much softer this time.
Jack smirks. "Sense when are you shy, brat?" He rubs Jay's head, the short hair soft under his fingers.
Jay makes a whiney sound in his throat and hides his face in Jack's arm. The room made happy sounds at the boys shyness, as they tend over their own, non human, pets. Jack was trying to coax Jay into being more friendly, when a short, gray-haired, man in a lab coat comes out. "Jackson Pipper?"
Jack nods, standing up causing Jay to whine as he tries to hold onto Jack. "Doctor Franklin?"
"Yes, I'm glad to finally have you two in. Come come." He motions them to follow.
