"I still can't believe they'll be dumb enough to break in here." I said, not looking up from the computer in my room. Jin was also here, sitting on my bed while I was working on The Emperor.

"Dumb is somehow a definition of brave." He replied.

"I guess that's true." I placed the final peice on The Emperor and run a full scan. "Ok, I replaced the CPU with a new one, courtesy of your grandfather. And now, you shouldn't have a problem in inputing speed. Meet, Emperor M2!" As soon as i turned around, he was already right next to me.

"Emperor M2... Your first opponent is Yamano Ban." Jin said smirking.

I sighed. "I worked for 3 hours straight so all this had better be worth it."

"Don't worry." He said. "I won't let it go to waste."

We waited for Yamano Ban and his friends to come in the battle arena, while the butler gave us some tea. I was looking up player data on my tablet while Jin was just silently coming up with strategies. Either that or he was just trying to enjoy the silence while it lasted.

Then we heard someone talking from below the arena. The voices got closer and right when we looked, we faced Yamano Ban, Aoshima Kazuya and Kawamura Ami.

"Kaidou Jin..." Ban said.

"This is his room?" Ami asked.

No, it's a battle arena that connects to his room. And not just his, mine as well. I retorted in my mind.

"So you came, Ban." Jin said standing up. I stood up as well and walked towards him. "Let's settle the score from Angra Visdas.

"Ban, it's a trap!" Kazuya said. "He's trying to buy time to get his men here! We better scram!" They turned to leave.

"Wait." The butler said. He held up a phone. "If we sound the alarm the men will come here."

"If you agree to the battle, we won't sound the alarm." Jin said. "Fight, with this enhanced Emperor M2!"

"He's gonna rat us out if we don't then?" Kazuya said, surprised.

"Did you tell Ban that Professor Yamano was here just so you could figt him again?" Ami asked.

". . . Ban, I wanted to settle the score with you." Jin said. "You want to meet your father, right? As long as you battle me, you're free to do anything else afterwards. What will you do?"

"Fine!" Ban said.

We headed up to the arena and i turned the lights on.

The butler started the countdown. "Ready..."

"Emperor M2!"

"Let's go, Achilles!"

"Battle Start!"

Jin is using his fast input speed from the start. Emperor M2 was attacking Achilles mercilessly.

"He's fast as ever." Kazuya said.

"Emperor M2's response time is even faster than before." Ami said.

"This Emperor M2 has a different CPU." Jin explained. "A top class one."

"Top class?" Ban asked.

"It won't give out systerm errors like it did at Angra Visdas." Jin said. "In other words, I'll be the one to win this match!"

"Then I'll use this!" Ban said.

"Advance, V-Mode."

For a while, Ban manage to push him back, but Jin kept going with his input speed.

"Can it really be so different by just changing CPUs?" Kazuya asked.

Can an LBX be so different by changing weapons? I mentally sarcastically asked, sweatdropping.

With Jin's skills, it'll be easy to predict Achilles' movements.

"It's even faster than V-Mode!" Ban said. "And not just speed, power too!"

I giggled. "Looks like all those hours of maintenance were worthwhile."

"I told you i wouldn't let it go to waste." Jin replied, still focused on the battle.

"You did the maintenance?" Ami asked. I just smiled in reply.

"Even so..." Ban said. "I can't afford to lose... I'll win and save my dad!" Achilles began attacking.

"Useless, I've already seen through all your attacks." Jin said. Achilles, however, manage to land a few hits. "He's gotten faster?!" Jin started speeding up as well.

"I can't afford to lose!" Ban said.

"Neither can I!" Jin replied.

"HISSATSU FUNCTION!!!"

"Attack Function, Lightning Lance."

"Attack Function, Impact Kaiser."

"A clash of finishing functions?!" Kazuya said.

"You sound surprised." I commented. "These things happen often in battles. As an LBX Player, you should have known that by now."

"What?!" I ignored him after that and payed more attention to the battle.

The impact of both hissatsus caused a crater in the battle field. Both LBXs can still stand up but Achilles' V-Mode had run out. Ban had a worried expression on his face while Jin was smirking. Right when they were about to continue however, Dr. Kaidou's men came in.

Ban and his friends made a run for it, but not before he made an eye lock with Jin.

"Mr. Jin! Are you alright?" One of the men asked.

Jin didn't reply so his butler did. "Don't worry about him."

"Excuse us!" And he followed the other two men in pursuit of Ban and the other two.

Jin picked up his LBX from the battle field. "Yamano Ban..."

I faced the butler. "Thanks for the set up." I said. He bowed and left.

I looked at Jin again, but right before that was some kind of glitch. I blinked. What was that? I walked over and touched the edge of the battle field. For a brief moment, not even a second, i wasn't able to feel the enhanced carboard.

"What's wrong?" Jin asked.

"I don't know." I reply. I shook my head and blinked a couple of times. "I feel like my brain isn't processing right. There was a split-second delay before i was able to feel the enhanced cradboard."

"Maybe your AI's lagging." He said.

I shrugged. "Well, whatever that was, it's gone now." I grabbed his arm in a split-second.

"Hey, stop that." He scolded. He pulled away and put his LBX in his back pocket.

I used pulled my tablet out from my jacket. Yeah, i have a pocket that's that big in the interior of my jacket. Mind you.

I checked the monitors and one screen showed the dining room. "Hey, take a look at that. Your grandfather captured Yamano Ban and his friends. That was fast."

"Let me see." He walked behind me and peered over my shoulders. Then he narrowed his eyes on something but i couldn't tell what.

Then he turned to leave. I was about to follow him but he stopped me. "Don't. Stay here. I'll be right back."

"Ok... But why?" I asked.

"Just promise me you won't go anywhere." He said. Then he left.

I blinked a few times. What was that all about? I shook my head. All I can do now is trust him, I guess.

I walked through the door that led to my room and stayed there, while waiting for Jin to come back.
