“An optimist is a guy that has never had much experience.”

Zoey was waited until the guard in the white coat was in front of her to spring.
We watched as she left him, unconscious, and pulled on his white coat, took the access pass, and his gun. Then she waved for us to get up and come with her.
We were standing in front of the steel door with a place to swipe the card we had just taken. I took a shaky breath and was suddenly happy at my decision to keep our old uniforms, at least now we would fit in more. I looked at the four of us. Chance, Avery, and I all in out Stained uniforms and Zoey in her new guard outfit. We could do this. We just needed some food and a way of transportation. Hopefully a quick in and out mission. It might have helped if I actually believed that this would work. It would have been even better if I thought it was going to be worth it.
“Let’s go.” Zoey slid her access card and we were inside.
The layout was different from the one in Spain, but must’ve been similar to the one Chance had been in since he knew where everything was generally.
“Cafeteria’s down there, we might want to raid it tonight. The other Stained are that way, but so is all transportation, and the training arena is in the back. Where to first?”
I thought about it for a moment. “Transportation. If there isn’t anything we can use then it’s pointless to check anything else out and we don’t want to be carrying food around the whole time.”
Chance led us down a hall and soon we were walking by rooms with a piece of glass separated the Stained from the hall. Some of them looked up, but most of them just ignored us. All but one left us alone.
She was in the last room before entering what Chance said was the transportation room. Maybe that’s what drew her attention. A guard taking Stained to the transportation room? Yeah, I’m sure that happens a lot.
She was pale with light orange hair that was slightly longer than mine and had a small curl in the back. There was a light dusting of freckles under her bright green eyes. She looked up at us from her bed before scrambling to her feet and coming up to the window and starting to talk.
“Can anyone hear her?” I asked, watching her mouth move.
“No, must be thick glass.” Chance said, getting ready to turn around.
Her fist hit the window and she pointed to the door behind her.
“I think she wants to talk.” I looked over at Zoey who had started to turn away with Chance and Avery.
“I’m sure she does, but do you think we should? We’re lucky we haven’t met anyone yet. I don’t think we should push our luck.” Zoey replied.
“Yeah, think about it Nic. We can’t stay any longer than necessary.” Avery agreed.
“You guys go look for transportation then, I’ll talk to her. She could be useful.” I started walking back to the front so I could go around to the door.
Zoey shook her head. “At least take someone with you. Chance?”
Chance nodded and started walking over to me. “I’ll go with you. Just in case.”
