CADEN'S POV

Flustered, I rushed into the meeting room whilst scrolling through my messages.

The solemn faces of the other members of the board looked tired, probably after waiting for me.

"You have my apologies for the delay, let the meeting resume." I sat down in my brown leather arm chair at the end of the long glass table.

I glanced around to see Alpha Emmett gazing out the window on his side of the room.

Pondering.

"Recently, our borderline warriors have spotted our enemies : The Tracionero rogues. They have been advancing rapidly over the past few days and we need to build our defence." Bryant, my beta, informed.

They've decided to advance. Even after my warning?

My dark eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Alpha Emmett, seeing as you have had situations with many rogues before. Do you have a solution?"

The brunette jerked up as if being awoken from a deep sleep.

"E-excuse me?" He collected himself ; sat up straight and tousled his hair.

"Repeat the question."He stated and my beta complied.

He raised his naturally neat eyebrows as he smirked at me in mockery.

"There's such a simple solution yet your high and mighty Alpha couldn't figure it out?"

Enraged, my jaw clenched.

"Don't go over the limit Silver." I warned. My teeth clenched.

"Oh but I already have. Why are you refraining yourself? I know you're just aching to throw a punch."  He teased and pushed his chair back.

The room was quiet.

No one spoke up.

My blood started to throttle. It confused me as to how a human being could be so infuriating.

"Don't test me. I'm only staying back because of Emma or else I would've thrashed you so hard." I snarled.

Without realising, I was now stood up ; my canines bared.

Laughter filled the room.

Belonging to the opposing Alpha.

"Emma? You never even gave two flying sh*ts about her before! So now, all of a sudden you decide to become her knight in shining armour?"
He fumed.
Before?

I slowly sat down.
"What do you mean by before?"
His eyes widened widened in the shock of what he revealed.
"Did I say before? No I didn't. You must be hearing things."
Perspiration started to trail down his forehead as he stuttered.
My was going into over drive trying to figure out the meaning of his statement.
Before?
Was he mentioning my Emma? As in Emma Clarke?
I bared my canines and curiously walked forward.
"How do you know about Emma? Who has been informing you?" He seemed caught off guard by my query.

He regained his posture and returned to his smug self.
"Well of course I know about your Emma. The whole realm knows about your mate running away from you and I honestly do not blame her."
In an instant his body was against the wall. His shirt in my fist.
"Now listen here Alpha. If you dare badmouth my mate one more time ... "
I was shaking with anger.
We were ripped apart by our betas and settled down.
The rooms temperature increased vastly.
"You need to settle your differences. If not for the packs then do it for Emma."
Emmett's beta proclaimed.
I reigned my fury in for the sake of Emma.
For some reason, the feeling of responsibility washed over me whenever Emma was mentioned.
Calmly,  I leaned back in my chair and gestured for Ryan to carry on.
In my peripheral vision I could make out Emmett mirroring my moves which implies a truce.
Ryan explained about the Tracionero tribe and how they were advancing.
Emmett suddenly jerked up.
"What about Emma? She's at the hospital."
He exclaimed.
Quickly, I jumped out of my seat.
"Hurry, send our best warrior wolves to guard her."

Everyone flooded out the room in order to get prepared for the worst.
