It was a chilly and snowy Sunday night as Veronica and Kelly prepared for the Masquerade party. Veronica has slipped on her blue and black dress while strapping on a black choker decorated with a blue rose. She put on some blue mascara in the shape of butterfly wings with black eye liner along with blue lipstick to match. She slipped on silk gloves that went up to her elbow and her slip on black ballerina flats. Her blonde hair was in half up curly bun that was a bit like a waterfall. Last but not least, her elegant blue masquerade mask that looked like butterfly wings. It complimented her blue eyes well and made her look beautiful but mysterious. She soon walked out of her room and downstairs to see Kelly was already done and waiting on her date. She wore a emerald green short dress with green high heals. She had on bright red lipstick along with a elegant green mask. Her auburn hair was up in a high bun so tight not a strand of hair could escape. She frowned upon seeing her, I guess jealous that Veronica could pull off a stunning dress and look beautiful.
"Wow, Veronica, you look stunning." Her aunt complimented her.
It surprised her that Ann said that instead of telling her she couldn't go after running off again.
"I guess but I'll be the bell'e of the ball as always." Kelly said out of pure jealousy.
"Thanks Ann and thanks, I guess Kelly. Closest I'll get to a compliment from you." And it was true, that was the nicest thing Kelly has told her.
"Yeah, don't wear it out. Oh look, Brian has arrived. Tootles." She said walking out the door and toward a green neon.
"Who is your date?"
"Axel Faust, but I'm not staying long."
"Why not?"
"I find comfort here than I do anywhere lately."
"I see."
"Well, he's here. I'll see you later." She smiled while waving.
"Have fun." Ann smiled back while watching her walk out the door to a nice blue Ford truck.
Axel hurried out so he could open the door for her like a gentleman.
"Thank you." She smiled while picking up her dress and getting inside. He closed the door and went around to get back into the drivers seat.
"So, you ready?" Axel was wearing a white tux with a white mask.
"Yes, let's get this over with."
After driving a few miles, they reached a huge Victorian mansion.
"Wow!" Veronica was impressed.
"Yup, Joel is just as cool."
"He is?"
"Yeah, he doesn't have a mean bone in his whole body yet your cousin had been after him since the first grade. Figure she want a more feisty type."
She giggled.
"Let's go, you said you didn't want to be out all night."
She nodded while waiting on him to open the door for her. Once out, they walked together with arms looped, up the many stairs toward the entrance. An older gentleman opened the door for them with a kind smiled.
"Enjoy the party."
They both smiled and nodded as they walked into a dimly lit room full of teens dress up and wearing masks. The walls were a golden color and the lights from the chandeliers enhanced the color magically and the room was very huge with loud music booming from s DJ.
"I wish could live here..." She was actually very happy and delighted to attend such an event.
Once they had walked down the stairs, they saw many dancing the night away.
"Shall we dance?" Axel offered his hand to her.
She smiled while taking it and they began to dance like it was a real ball that Cinderella had attended. She smiled brighter, not having a sorry I'm the world as she enjoyed the night for once.
"A real genuine smile I see."
"I'm actually happy." She said which was the truth. Ever since she was little she had wanted to attend a ball like Cinderella, that's what got her through the asylum. It was a small dream but it went a long way for her. Now she was finally living that dream. They danced until the music stopped and her legs felt like jello. Axel lead her to a table and pulled a chair out for her.
"Thank you."
"Anytime, you deserve a gentleman tonight after the week you had and I'm proving I'm not a jerk." He smirked while sitting.
She looked at the nicely decorated table, whine glasses filled with cherry soda to pass as red whine she assumed, golden beads and red rose petals laid upon a silk table cloth. She then glanced to see Kelly leaning against a banister and talking to a tall, fair skinned boy with shaggy, dark, black hair and wearing half a white mask, seeing sad looking grayish blue eyes on the bare half. He wore an old style Victorian outfit with a cape that looked very much like the Phantom from phantom and the opera.
"Whose the phantom that Kelly is trying to warm up to?" She was quite interested in who the phantom was.
"Joel Creed."
"Really?"
"Expect tall, tan, and hot?" He laughed some.
"Not really, never imagine Kelly to be into his type."
"Oh I don't think she is, thing is he has money and he's very well respected. So if she wins him over.."
"She gets rep points and many expensive gifts."
"Exactly."
"What a witch..."
"Yup but I would say another term that rhymes quite well."
Veronica giggled at that comment.
"Don't look now, Joel is coming this way."
Veronica looked to see tall dark and handsome was coming their way and she was blushing bright red.
"Hello miss, I couldn't help but notice your beautiful blue dress. It's an eye catcher." He smiled which made her blush even more.
"Th...thank y..you..."
"Hey, Joel, nice party like always."
"Hey, Axel, glad you could make it this year and you brought a stunning date who conceals her beauty very well."
"I couldn't miss it again, it be a slap in the face to my cousin."
"Cousin?"
"Yes, my mother and his father are siblings." Axel explained.
"Wow, that very neat."
"I guess.." Axel seemed a bit discouraged all a sudden.
She bit her lip thinking she ruined the moment.
"Care if I steal your date for a dance?"
"It's up to her, we're just friends so it doesn't bother me." She put on a fake smile which meant it did.
"Would like to dance?" He would say offering a hand to her.
She nodded pretending not to notice. She couldn't resist the very not her cousin and other girls were interested in and it was just a dance, nothing more. She took his hand as he lead her out onto the dance floor.
"Sorry to ask but I noticed a bandaged on your neck, my dear."
"Freak accident." She lied and blushed again.
"I see, I'm sorry to hear." She twirled her.
"It's alright. I'm alive, that's what matters." She smiled and noticing everyone was staring at them, even the people who were dancing stopped to watch. She felt like a real Cinderella, dancing on the floor with a sorta prince.
"Yes, I couldn't dance with you if you were dead."
"Why me? So many girls seem to want your attention and you dance with a girl who has a bandage plus a date?"
"You are the only one who stands out with such beautiful blonde hair."
"So I'm the bell'e?"
"Very much so." He smirked as he leaves her down.
The music ended as he brought her back up. But he didn't let go of her hand, he lead her toward what appeared to be outside on the balcony where it was empty. Once toward the edge, he leaned over. She just stared out toward the sky trying not to blush.
"So, may I unmask my Cinderella?"
She nodded but was weirded out when he said Cinderella.
He proceeded to take off her mask and revealing her pale face and blue massacre around her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm the survivor of the Valentine murder.. "
"So? Your very beautiful and honestly it's a miracle you survived. It was very brutal and everyone but you died. I find nothing wrong with that."
"You and Axel are the only ones not phased."
"I feel very much honored." He raised her hand to his lips as he gently kisses the top of her hand.
She blushes even more as she pulled her hand away.
"I'm sorry, I keep forgetting you are Axel's date."
"It's alright, I'm going to go freshen up in the bathroom." She would say to him while hurrying back inside. She felt bad because she did kinda like him but she didn't want to disrespect Axel in anyway seeing as though he was the only reason she came. She made her way through the crowd of dancers and chatting people toward a hall that seemed to lead to the bathroom. She slowed down a bit while walking only to feel alone all a sudden. She passed quite a bit of portraits of men and woman which gave her creepy vibes. She soon had cold chills running down her spine as the feeling of being watched set in which to her wasn't good seeing as though she was being stalked by a cloaked figure. But all that changed when seeing a portrait at the end of the hall. Walking closer she saw it was a family picture of her family. Her mother was so beautiful, it was like she was an angelic creature. Her big blue eyes gave her the look of innocence, she saw her own blue eyes in her mother, her soft pink lips in an upturned sweet smile, her golden hair in a wavy style bun, and she wore her favorite white sundress that made her stand out. Her father on the other hand had a darkness about him. He had his long black hair in a down ponytail that ran down his back, her dark brown eyes looked very sinister and it gave the feeling he could see into her very soul as she viewed the picture, he wore a a white dress shirt with a black vest over top. She saw no sign of herself in this man, not one which was weird. And than their was her and her twin sister, Victoria. They both wore their white blonde hair in pigtails, both their faces were sweet and angelic with their mother's big blue eyes, sweet smiles, and they both leaned like mirror images toward their mother. Only difference was Victoria wore a soft pink sun dress while she wore a soft blue sundress. Memories of her parents were becoming a bit clearer after seeing their faces. But seeing her mother in this picture, she felt hate and resentment toward her. How does a sweet girl like herself turn into the monster in her dreams and flashbacks. She punched her mother in the picture, cracking it. But she soon stopped after realizing where this picture was and why was the question.
"I see you found my collection." Said a familiar voice.
The voice caused her all alarms to go off.
