Veronica opened her eyes when feeling something cold touch her cheek. It was snowing softly but heavily, already covering the ground with a soft blanket of snow. She sat up to see she was in the back yard of her old and empty home.
"How..?" She was so confused. She couldn't understand how she ended up here when she was just on the sidewalk of another, unfamiliar neighborhood. Also she couldn't process what she saw, those creatures with hollow eyes. Standing up, she dusted the snow off herself, feeling cold and chilled. Looking at her hands, her skin was very pale and a bit bluish. She needed to get home and warm up. On the ground near her she noticed something shiny. At closer inspection, she saw it was a silver heart-shaped locket. Opening it, it had a picture on each side. One was of a little girl with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and she wore a pink dress while holding a doll identical to the child. On the other side was an identical picture with the blonde hair and a blue dress with a doll but the face was so distorted you couldn't make it out. Touching the picture, she suddenly felt a rush and soon she saw flashes of a woman with golden hair wearing a white sundress, wearing the locker, touching the locket as she watch little identical twin girls run around the garden. Blonde hair flying in the breeze, one wearing pink while the other wore blue. They were laughing while chasing one another, the woman smiling as she watched from a few feet away. But she was soon rushing toward the girls, her locket falling from her neck onto the ground. The pink dressed the twin was unconscious on the ground while the blue dressed twin backed away. The mother knelt to the ground and picked up the child while angrily yelling at the other, who was now looking down. Veronica breathed hard as she came back to the present.
"Mom... This was mom's locket.... I remember she lost it but she could never find it. I don't remember that day, did I hurt Victoria?" Sighing she placed the locket in her pocket as she walked around the house toward the gate.
"There you are!" Said a familiar voice.
Looking up she saw her aunt coming out of the car, "I been worried sick, thinking of sick your going to end up with more than a cold if you don't get out of this cold air."
Veronica nodded as she headed toward the car, not caring at all how mad she was. Warm blankets and clothes sounded good with hot food.
