Chapter 19: Supression

Veronica woke up and yawned but she wasn't in her bed, she was in the bed she slept in as a child.
"Veronica? Are you awake?" Asked a voice similar to hers.
She looked to see Victoria sitting up in her bed looking at her, she nodded.
"I feel weird..."
"How, sissy?"
"I can do things that I just now noticed..."
"What things?"
"I can see life energy. I know when you, mommy, and daddy will die."
"Stop being morbid..."
"It's true and I feel like if I wanted, I could cut the strings myself...but I feel tired when I attempt."
"Who did you try to kill?"
"...." She went silent.
"Me..."
"Only to see if I could at least touch it! I wasn't going to hurt you!"
"Don't mess with that stuff, it's dangerous..."
"I know but it's cool.."
"I'm going to bed..." Veronica said while turning over.
"You are just jealous."
"No I'm not, I rather be nothing then accidentally killing someone by messing with someone's life!"
"But something tells me to mess with yours.."
Veronica was now angry and upset, jumping out of bed and jumping onto Victoria. She tackled get until they both fell out of bed. Veronica grabbed her throat, began choking Victoria, feeling her life force as she her hands absorbed it. Victoria screamed as she thrashed.
"Look whose hurting who!" At that moment the lights came on and she was pulled off a nearly unconscious Victoria.
"Trying to kill your sister?" Her mother asked.
"No..."
"You can sleep in the basement tonight!" Her father said jerking her up onto her feet by her arm and dragging her.
"No! Don't make me sleep in the dark!" Veronica screamed while looking to see a smirking Victoria. Her father dragged her by her right hand while Veronica fought and pounded his arm with her left fist.
"Stop it! If your going to be a naughty child, then you will be treated in such!" Her father said in a raised voice which scared her.
"But Victoria was talking crazy!"
"But we saw you choking her, trying to kill her!"
Before she knew it, her father dragged her down each step while Veronica kept trying to grab onto the stairs or the railing. She was scared to death of the dark and she didn't want locked in in it. With a final jerk, he sling her onto a familiar stained mattress.
"You will think about what you did and only when you learn your lesson will you come out of here tomorrow. Goodnight!" Her father said while walking up the stairs. Veronica tried to follow but before she could catch up, he slammed shut the door and locked it. She started to pound on the door and scream.

Veronica jerked out of bed, screaming.
"Hey, it's okay, just a dream." Joel soothed her after rushing to her side.
"Victoria...she knew she had powers...she tried using them on me and I tried to hurt her with powers...father locked me in the basement for being bad and she got away with it..."
"Shhh, it's over now."
Rowan rushed in to the sounds of screaming, "Whats wrong?"
"Flashback." Joel answered.
"We both had powers..."
"What kind and who else?"
"I could drain a life force and my sister, she could mess with the strings attaching a soul to a body, maybe even sever them and releasing the soul?"
"So she knew about her powers, meaning she was developing like you should." Joel started thinking.
"Why didn't I? Why do I not even remember?"
"We don't know, we are very new to this." Rowan would answer walking toward her.
"Well I'm tired of being left in the dark!"
"Hey, be happy your now getting answers and your finally discovering what your truly capable of. It's not everyday your destined to be the new Reaper Queen whom is very important to the balance of life and death." Joel smiled toward her.
"True.." She collapsed on the pillow and falling back to sleep.
Rowan frowned before pulling Joel out of the room.
"What did I do this time?" Joel was deeply confused.
"Nothing, I'm troubled by all of this. It doesn't make sense."
"What doesn't?"
"Why would her sister develop and know of her powers when Veronica doesn't right away yet their twins? Why is her memory blank and just now coming back to her? None of this fits or makes sense."
"Maybe whoever Axel works for locked away her memories and suppressed her development?"
"Maybe... It's the middle of the night so I'm going back to bed before Star doesn't feel me laying beside her."
Joel nodded while laying back down in his bed made out of blankets.
