Katie was struggling to understand what had happened. Niall left twenty minutes before Cassie got home; but Katie hadn't moved. She stood, inches from the door. "Jesus!" Cassie exclaimed, holding a hand to her chest, "You scared me, what are you doing?" Katie looked around the room, and her brain followed. "I have to get ready." She said to no one in particular, while Cassie watched her go. "Alright," She said to herself, walking towards the kitchen.
She smacked her lips, watching the light in the fridge flicker, and grabbed the left over pizza from the night before; and slid it across the island. She settled after getting a glass of water. She sighed in happiness: pizza seemed to make it all better. She started, however, to think; and dropped the pizza in disgust. Maybe it didn't help as much as she led on. Cassie threw the pizza away and shrugged towards her room when the front door was throw open. Korina, winded and sweaty, had came through.
Cassie's brows furrowed, "What's up?" She asked. Korina set her hands on her knees and swallowed air, "Where's Katie?" She finally got out, and Cassie inwardly sighed. "In her room." Of course no one wanted to speak to Cassie, she wasn't important. Korina slid passed her and elbowed Cassie playfully, "Thanks Fam," She said, her breath finally caught. "Yup," She said dryly.
~~~
Cassie lay on Katie's bed, glancing to see her dropping yet another pair of pants. Korina lay opposite her, her legs over Cassie's. "We can always leave?" Korina told Katie, who had complained that no one was helping her. Cassie hadn't bothered to correct her. "No don't leave!" She said hastily, throwing a satin shirt over her head, "How's this?" She asked hopeful, nervous. Cassie glanced from her tablet, "You look like shit." She said. She meant to sound lighthearted, but it sounded honest. "Cassie!" Korina said harshly, "Katie you look amazing." Katie flipped Cassie off and left the room. Cassie assumed she went to the bathroom for makeup.
Korina sat up, "What is your problem?" She said not unkindly. Cassie threw her arms in the air with exhaustion, "Nothing." Korina looked at Cassie in dismay, "Nothing?" She inquired. Cassie nodded, "Nothing." Korina laid back, "Well I totally believe you." She said sarcastically. Cassie glanced at the door, hoping Katie would storm back in.
No such luck.
Cassie sighed and looking at Korina, who was already glaring at her, "I'm not happy." She finally said. Korinas eyes softened, "Why?" She asked calmly, scooting towards Cassie. Cassie inhaled and exhaled shakily, "Dustin and I are over," She looks away, partly because it was true, but mostly because it wasn't. "No offense, but what made him different from the others?" She said not unkindly. Cassie sighed, rubbing her eyes, "I don't know," but she did. She knew all to well. "I liked," She started, but cleared her throat; she hated crying. "I liked that when we were done," She lifted a brow, "You know..." Korina chuckled, "Having sex, yes; go on."
"Well," She continued, "He'd run his fingers down my back, it put me to sleep." She glanced at Korina, blushing, desperately hoping Korina understood.
She did not.
"You liked him, because he put you to sleep?" She asked. Cassie scoffed, "He'd hold my hand while he was driving, he'd make me laughed when I needed it, he'd... He'd," Cassie looked around desperately, "He'd make me feel important; needed." Korina straightened her back: understanding. "Cassie," She started; her eyes sad and her mouth drawn into a frown. Before she could finish, Katie waltz in, make up done.
"Tuna, will you do my hair?" Korina didn't answer. Cassie glanced her way to see Korinas stare focused on her. "Tuna!" Katie said louder, grabbing her attention. "Yeah," She said, standing clumsily, "When Katie leaves, lets go somewhere, yeah?" Korina told Cassie, then followed Katie out before she could object. She didn't feel like doing anything, let alone go out.
~~~
Korina and Katie went into the bathroom almost an hour ago, doing hair. Cassie, now, was laying in her own bed, nearly asleep. When all the sudden there was a knock on the door. She didn't know why, but her heart stuttered. She shook her head, clearing it, and stood quickly, "Coming!" She made it to the door, cutting the persons persistent knocking off. "Can I help-?" She stopped, jaw slack and eyes wide. "Katie!" Niall said, and immediately paused, "Not Katie," He shook his head, almost as if he remember something, "Cassie right? Katie mentioned you!" Cassie made a note-to-self, basically stating that she'd do everything for Katie forever.
"Niall," Korina said from behind them, and Niall ducked through the door, brushing up against Cassie's shoulder. Her throat closed and her vision faded. "How are you?" She heard from a close distance. The voices drowning out. Niall, fucking, Horan is in my living room. She shook her head, hearing her name. "What?" She said, turning to see Korina. "Are you okay?" Korina asked, smiling slightly. Cassie scanned the room and came up empty, "Where's Niall?" She said excitedly. Korina frowned, "They left?" She looked at Cassie in pity, "Dude, did you black out?" Cassie swore loudly, "I didn't say one word to him Korina! NOT ONE." Korina leaned away, her hands up in surrender, "Not my fault, plus you'll get another chance, don't worry!" She said nervously.
Cassie threw herself down on the couch, rolling her eyes, "Yeah! I'll totally get another chance! Niall will see how obsessed Katie is-" Korina interrupted, "Thought you weren't obsessed?" She said smiling. Cassie waved her away, "He'll see how weird she is and then I'll never get the chance with him, or Louis! Tuna, my Louis!" She said, covering her face. She felt Korina pulling her to her feet. "Okay, that's it, lets go." Cassie pulled away, laying further into the couch. Korina laughed, "Come on please Cassie! Lets go!" Cassie sat up, glaring, "Where?" Korinas eyes shined, "Lets go spy on Katie's date."
