Chapter 38 (3/5 till Finale) - A Zombie In Fluffy Blue Penguin Pyjamas.

Elena’s P.O.V

It’s now Wednesday. Two days after I found out about Damon and Katherine.

Question is what do I do from here? Do I forgive him, go back to how we were, and forget it all ever happened? Or move on, forget him, forget everything we shared, and be unhappy for the rest of my life?

The front door rang, and being the only one in, I grudgingly lifted my body from my bed, and hauled my butt downstairs. The knocking and ringing became impatient, and I started getting annoyed.

“Alright, alright!” I yelled, as I threw open the door. I gasped, as the one person who I thought I hated was standing there, and I realised he was the one person I needed. I threw myself into his arms, and began to sob.

“What’s wrong, Elena? What’s the matter, honey?” His voice soothed me.

“You were right. You told me he’d hurt me and he did.” I cried, soaking his shirt.

“Let’s go inside, and have a coffee, and you can tell me all about it.” John said.

So the man wasn’t my dad, but he was my biological father. It counted for something. This man was always lurking in the background of family parties, always sarcastic, always helpful, and even though he was an ignorant jerk, he was still technically my dad.

I nodded, and released him, following him into the kitchen. We spent the next few hours talking, and at the end I was sure of what I needed to do.

Jeremy’s P.O.V

Elena is actually a mess. She’s worse than Bonnie. She’ll be somewhat smiley one minute, then crying her eyes out the next, then the rest of the time she’s like a zombie. A zombie who wears fluffy blue penguin pyjamas. Another gag gift from me, which annoyingly she fell in love with. Mostly, she’ll sit in her room alone, staring at the window. No, not out, at. Like she’s waiting for something. John came by this morning wile we were out, and I don’t know what he’s said to her, but when Bonnie asked her if she was thinking about getting back together with Damon, she had said bluntly, no.

No. She hadn’t told Damon that herself. He came by earlier to see her, but she refused to come down. I knew that he’d tried to go up there via the window, but she had locked it. And now, she was just staring at it. Sitting on the bed, and staring at the window.

Bonnie keeps going up there, and trying to start a conversation with her, but nothing works. Our rooms are so close together that when Bonnie and I are about to go to bed, we can hear Elena’s somewhat silent sobs only slightly muffled by her pillow.

“Jeremy, you’re her brother. Go talk to her.” Bonnie told me, before sipping on her bottled water.

“She hasn’t spoken barely to anyone since John left this afternoon. But if you insist.” I got up, and across the hall. She was in the same position as when Bonnie had last checked on her.

“Hey, Elena.”

She just nodded at me, not breaking her gaze from the window.

“We were going to watch a movie downstairs. Wanna join?” I asked.

She shook her head.

I moved and sat on the bed next to her, and pulled her into my arms. I squeezed her tight, and pretty much winced as the waterworks started. But this time she didn’t say anything, or make any noise. She just cried.
