After Simon had finished up with the business part of the meeting, he had introduced me to the boys saying that we'd see each other quite a lot while I was working with him. It took all my willpower not to fangirl, that's for when I get home!
That got me thinking; where exactly is home? Is home here in my flat in London or back in Minnesota? I’ve been living in Minnesota all my life but I never really thought I belonged there with everyone else. Coming to London has made me think that I was part of something; that I was one of them.
Sure, people questioned my American accent, but that won't be there in a few months or years. That was temporary. And I was still getting used to living in England and hearing everyone talk in an English accent. I still don't get what they're talking about half the time because of the slang; the laws are much different as well. Even though I feel at home, I feel like an outcast. It's not something that's easy getting used to.
The meeting ended sooner than I wanted it to, but I guess that's alright since I'm probably going to see them during the week along with other celebrities. The boys seemed to be relieved though. Simon's meetings are pretty harsh. But I did notice that Liam was a bit upset. He probably had to do something after this like taking care of the other boys of One Direction. Judging on the interviews, they're crazy.
I actually like my job for once, I got to meet popular celebrities and hang out with Simon Cowell all day. How many people can say that? I think I'm the only person who can say that.
Simon said I could go home after the meeting, claiming that there was nothing important left other than sorting through paperwork. So I called up Clark telling him to gather Connor, Julia, and Maddy and to meet at my place in an hour. I take a taxi home and decide to clean up the place a little bit. It wasn't the cleanest apartment.
I finished in a half an hour which left me about 5 minutes to get changed into a more... suitable outfit. I put on leggings and a white t-shirt that says Love. I situate my hair into a bun and put on my UGGS since it's a bit cold. Just as I finish putting on my left boot, I hear a knocking at my door. I smile to myself, thinking about how lucky I am to be here along with great friends and an amazing job where I get to work with Simon Cowell and One Direction. And I've only been here for about two months.
I open the door to see all four of them; Connor, Julia, Clark, and Maddy. Clark and Connor were poking each other for some odd reason while Maddy's eyes were begging for help. Julia was texting someone on her phone, not paying attention.
"They've been at this the whole ride here." Maddy says. "You have no clue how lucky I am for you to be here."
"That sounds terrible,"
"It was," She responds. They walk into the flat soon after, still poking each other.
"Guys! How about we do something else?" I suggest. They immediately stop poking.
"What do you have in mind?" Connor asks.
"I was thinking about that new One Direction game. I picked it up at a shop earlier today. We get to pretend to be carrots." Their eyes light up which tells me that they haven't played it yet. I grab it out from under the sofa and start setting it up.
