I did it. I did it. I did it. I'm amazing.

"Oh my goodness, Kansas!"

Tears start flowing out of my eyes and I throw myself into his grasp. My arms wrap around him and I bawl into his chest. He just stands there awkwardly. I forgot he used to be a dog, this is all new to him.

After a minute of his arms hanging by his sides, he wraps his arms around me and put his head on mine. I feel drops of water hit my head. Is it raining?

A choked sob comes from Kansas and I realize he's crying. Oh no, maybe he doesn't like being a human? What did I do! I'm an awful friend.

"Kansas, I'm so sorry! I'll change you back if you want. I should have asked first." I say and hang my head.

He gives a low chuckle and rubs my back. All that petting was worth it.

"Liz, I'm not sad. I can finally walk with you, how could I be sad? You were a dog with me, now I get to be a person. Thank you." He says and looks into my eyes.

So he's not sad. I let out a sigh of relief and step back to get a good look at him. Wow.

He has auburn hair, unlike his orange fur, brown eyes with gold rims, and is about six feet tall. Dang it, he's taller now.

I pout at that and he gives a low chuckle. His laugh is a lot deeper than his dog laugh that sounded like a squirrel. I actually did it. I made him human!

"Oh my Chuck, I did it! I really, really did it! You're a human like me! Think of all the things we could do. We could go shopping, and go to the fair, and go to Taco Bell! I don't have to leave you outside the bank anymore!"
I do a little happy dance at that with a few squeals added in. I'm an amazing super! Speaking of, does he still have his powers?

"Hey dogboy, do you have your powers?"

"Dogboy?" He asks incredulously.

"Yes, now start running."

He run/waddles down the road awkwardly. Aw, he's my little Bambi.

"Hold on, do you know how to superspeed in human form?" I ask while trying, and failing, to hold back my laughter.

"Oh yes, because I've had a ton of practice with being a human!"

"Right, right. Well, in human form you have to think about super speeding. It's like turning on a switch. Your instincts must have changed when you did because human brains don't have that instinct that tells us to run as fast as possible. We can't just automatically superspeed."

He gives a nod and starts running down the road again. Not fast but at least he didn't fall.

"Try again!" I yell over at him "Remember, like a switch!"

He nods again with a look of determination on his face. He positions himself like he's about to race and super speeds away.

I jump up and down cheering. He super speeds back to me grinning.

"Great! Now let's see if your other powers work." I say and take a knife out of my boot.

He looks at it confused. Good, that means he won't expect this. My hand reaches out and snatches his arm. Before he can pull away I push the knife into his arm and make a cut down it.

"Ow!" He cries out clutching his arm "What the heck?"

"Look at your arm." I gesture at his arm.

He looks down and the cut seals itself up like magic. All that's left is a scar that soon fades too.

"See. It works." I say.

"Well you could have warned me!"

"Would you have voluntarily let me slice your arm like a watermelon?"

"No...."

"Exactly. Now, let's go. I'm getting dust in my lungs."

We walk back to the truck side by side. Now I finally have human company. People won't think I'm crazy anymore.

I hop into the car and Kansas is on the other side flapping his hand at the handle. A low chuckle escapes my lips and I pop open the door. He gives me a smile and leaps up into the car. His face smacks
the top of the door and he starts scrambling to get up with his legs. At this point I'm laughing so hard tears are coming out of my eyes. He kicks the door shut with his legs on accident so he starts whining and dragging his palms down the door.

"Wrap your hand around the handle and pull!" I yell to him.

I hear him struggling for a minute then the door pops open. Kansas slowly puts one foot in and then puts a hand on the seat. He pulls himself  into the truck and all I can think is that he looks exactly like a monkey.

Kansas looks at me, grins, and perkily says 'All set'. I chuckle and reach over to buckle him up.

"Now you're all set." I say and pull out of the gas station.

I read through this and realized I'm missing the end! I remade the end so it's not as confusing.
