*Cleopatra's Picture*
When I woke up I had a severe neck ache. That's because my head was leaning forward, and my legs and arms were chained to a wall. I was locked in a dungeon!
"Good, you're awake." said a snotty, girl voice. "I thought that I was going to have to taze you for a second."
I couldn't see the figure because of my hair hanging in front of my face, but I could hear the click clacking of her heels coming toward me.
A hand came up to my face and cupped my chin, making my head tilt up and the figure more visible.
"Yes very nice." she said as she turned my head from side to side. "Good work Ted. She will make a fine new body for my soul."
"New body? What are you talking about?!" I asked. She let go of my chin abruptly, causing my head to lunge forward.
"Now this makes me sad. You're trapped in a dungeon and you don't even want to know who your captor is? What is our society coming to? Sweetie does the name Cleopatra ring any bells, or am I no longer in your history books?"
I tried to look upward as best as I could. "that's not possible. Cleopatra died hundreds of years ago. She was locked in a tomb for crying out loud!"
"You see, that's where the historians were wrong. I had a twin sister named Evelana who worked just fine as a dead version of me," she laughed to herself as she paced back and forth in front of me.
"You killed your own sister so you could live?" Now I was afraid of what she would do to me.
"Well yes and no. I couldn't just live in one body for all of eternity, so I went out and found new ones." She acted like it was the most simple thing in the world. "And that's why I need you," she smirked. "but of course I know you won't go down without a fight. So I expect to see your boyfriend here any second."
"He's not my boyfriend!" and with that I lunged forward trying to escape. "Please don't drag him into this."
"I'll see you in a few!" she locked the door and waved goodbye.
"Please!" I yelled after her, but no one would care to listen.
About twenty minutes later the deadbolt unlatched, and I tried to raise my head to see who was coming now. But I was too weak.
"Look who Ted found lurking through the woods," That was all it took for me to know that they had caught Trevor too. All hope was gone.
"Get down on your knees boy," Cleopatra said in a bossy manner. "Ted dear, please fetch those chains over there and tie them on the boy." And he did just that.
When I was finally able to look up I saw Trevor, with his arms stretched out, tied with chains.
"Now we're going to play a game called 'The Boy Who Cried Werewolf'. I think that Trevor needs to show his true colors, don't you Ted?" Ted nodded. Cleopatra leaned down right next to Trevor's ear and whispered something I couldn't hear.
"Never," Trevor replied gazing up at her, then me.
"Oh, c'mon Trevor. Sarah deserves to know. Change."
"No."
"Change!"
"I said no!"
"Fine. I tried to play nice, but you won't budge. How about a little motivation?"
That's when Cleopatra started walking toward me.
"I'm going to give you one last chance to change free willingly. Do it."
"No."
"Okay," then she slapped me as hard as she could across my face. I let out a shriek and cry at the same time from the stingy feeling.
"Leave her alone!" And when I looked back up I saw a wolf fighting against the chains holding it.
"There you have it folks. A true werewolf! Ha! Ted you're free to go now. We'll start the body transformation in the morning. And you, Sarah darling, need to get some beauty sleep. I don't want to wake up as a baggy eyed person," then she promenaded past Trevor, who was human again, and out the door.
There was an awkward silence in the dungeon for at least ten minutes.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
No reply.
"Trevor, why didn't you tell me?" I was almost in tears.
"Because I knew that telling you would put you in exact situations like this. In danger."
"Well that happened by you not telling me too, didn't it?"
"Sarah, I'm not in the mood to talk about this right now,"
"Well I am! You lied to me! I let you in my house! You could've killed my parents or even me!"
"But I didn't. Sarah I would never hurt you or your family."
"You're a monster. I'm glad I'm letting Cleopatra take my body. That way I don't have to see you again." I mumbled.
"You're seriously going to go through with that? Sarah you're fifteen! You haven't even lived your life yet!"
"So are you! And you risked if for me!"
"You have no idea how much I wish I wasn't the monster I am. I'm one hundred and seventy four years old. I'm literally trapped forever."
Another awkward silence filled the room.
"I'm letting her have my body so she won't hurt you. If she gets what she wants, maybe she'll leave you alone."
"Sarah no one can hurt me. I'm going to get us out of here, okay?"
I nodded.
The sound of screeching metal came next, and before I knew it trevor was up helping me down from the wall.
"Let's get out of here," he said into my eyes.
"You know this is the second time you've rescued me and said that. It is now your catch phrase," I laughed weakly.
As we were running out the door two guards started chasing us don the long narrow hallway.
"there should be an exit up ahead," Trevor said.
So we turned toward the door with the giant blinking "EXIT" sign and ran outside, into the woods.
"I..think..we..lost them," I said while trying to catch my breath. Trevor nodded in agreement. "Well, I better head home." I turned to leave.
"So I'll talk to you at school tomorrow right?" there was so much hope in his eyes.
"Bye Trevor," I said and kept walking.
When I got home I tossed my bag on my bed and took out my phone. There was a message from my best friend Miranda in the middle of the screen.
'Hey girl! Don't forget about dress shopping tomorrow after school. Homecoming will be here before you know it, and I want my princess in good condition! xoxo, Rands'
I'll admit it, my best friend could be a little annoying.
