Me: How did you even get my number?
Erin: I'm amazing. Hey, that's another reason why you and I should be a thing.
Me: I'm busy, so stop talking to me.
Erin: Wyd?
Me: Nunya.
Erin: Um... What?
Me: Nunya damn business. Bye.
I turn my phone off, only to feel it buzz five more times after I put it in my pocket.
"You look angry. Everything okay in that conversation?" Taylor asks.
He and became good friends when Rick was avoiding me. For today, Sunday, the day before we go back to school, he wanted to hang out. I agreed.
"Erin is about to get himself killed if he doesn't stop flirting with me," I say threateningly.
"Am I friends with a criminal?" Taylor asks in mock shock (That rhymes).
"Yeah, you wanna help me hide a body?"
He chuckles and pulls into a parking lot. "What movie do you want to see?"
"Hey, can we see Sinister 2? Oh my God, I really want to see it!" I squeal.
"What, you didn't see the premiere?" He clicks his tongue. "You shouldn't lie about your social class, Brandy Roberts."
"Shut up. I saw a different movie premiere that night. I was so mad." I pout.
"Aw, that's adorable." He taps my nose. "But yeah, Sinister 2 it is."
We order our tickets, and he opens the door for me. I go find us a seat while he orders our popcorn and drinks. I put my armrest down, but he lifts it back up.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I protest. He sits down and puts his arm around my shoulders, and I get comfortable with the way we're sitting.
Oh my God, his cologne...
"You don't mind, do you?" he asks.
"Not at all. I'm just glad you weren't cliché about it."
He cocks his head to the side. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"You know, you pretend to yawn and stretch to put your arm around my shoulders. That would have made me so sick, I might have actually gotten up and left." He laughs.
After about two minutes, the lights dim and the movie starts. Taylor and I quiet down and watch.
Something bad happens and I jump and whisper, "Oh my God."
"You okay? We don't have to finish the movie," he says in my ear.
"No, I'm good. I like the thrill." He pulls me closer, if that's even possible, and I grab a handful of popcorn.
When the movie's over, he takes me to In N' Out.
"Do you get a discount for working here?" I ask as we pull into the parking lot.
"Yeah, I actually do," he chuckles.
He turns the keys and pulls them out of the ignition, but doesn't get out of the car. I notice this and sit back in the passenger seat.
"Something wrong?" He looks like he's thinking hard about something. I place my hand on his shoulder. He looks up from his hands to my face. Taylor doesn't seem sad or hurt, just- I don't know- confused.
In one quick movement he pulls me to him and kisses me. My breath hitches in my throat from the shock that he would do something like this, but I kiss back after a moment.
