A few weeks passed after Jc had taken me to the football game. An unofficial date part 2, as we had been calling it. Things seemed to be getting better by the day. If I wasn't home I was either at work or with Jc, and I wasn't home often. My car had finally arrived which meant I could finally go wherever I wanted whenever I wanted. Even though wherever I wanted normally meant to get food or to the guys house. Everything seemed to be going so well.
"You doing okay?" Somebody interrupted my mini day dream.
"Yeah I'm okay." I smiled.
"Sel, always dreaming on the job." Lulu laughed. She had become like a second mother to me already.
"I'm sorry Lu, it's just so slow today." I shrugged. Not a single person had walked in in the last 2 hours.
"Alright alright, why don't you finish up putting the hangers away and you can take the rest of the day off."
"Are you sure?" I never left early, and most days I actually stayed late.
"You've been working hard, it's a Friday night, go enjoy it." She smirked.
"I can stay it really isn't a big deal." I tried to sound sincere.
"Go. I'll see you Monday." She walked away, not giving me room to protest.
Not like I was about to object anyway. As quickly as I could, I placed the empty hangers in their places, clocked out, and was out the door. Home never sounded so good!
Thankfully the shop was only a few blocks away, it saved me on gas and the scenery wasn't too shabby itself. Of course I could never fully enjoy it though, don't phones ever not go off at the wrong time?
"Hello?" I answered, only slightly annoyed.
"Hey, where are you?" It was Jc. Of course I couldn't be mad anymore.
"On my way home. What's up babe?"
"You got off early?"
"Yeah, Lulu let me go."
"Want to come over? Everyone's here, Shane's in town and I really want you to meet him."
A lump filled my throat, just hearing his name.
"Yeah, sounds good. I'll be over in a bit."
"Can't wait." I could almost hear him smile before he hung up. Oh that boy.
As quickly as I could I made my way home. I was required to wear a dress or a skirt for work, and with the weather cooling down my legs were screaming for some jeans. And just like that, I was out the door once again, only this time with keys in hand.
**
When I pulled up to the guys place I could already tell this wasn't just another hang out. A few cars were lined up down the road and you could hear the laughs from the front yard. Oh boy.
"Baby!" I saw Jc's head pop out the front door.
"Hello my dear." I gave a quick wave, still fumbling to get out of my car.
"I've missed you." He was smiling wider than normal.
"Jc are you okay?" His body language was definitely weird today.
"I'm great. Just super happy, my girls here, the boys are here, O2L hit a million, no big deal." He shrugged.
"WHAT!" I couldn't help but scream in excitement.
"We did it." He just smiled.
"I'm so proud of you." I ran to hug him. Words couldn't say how much this meant to either of us.
"Come on, we're celebrating!" He began to pull me inside.
"Celebrating is the wrong word Mr. Caylen. We're simply turning the fuck up!" Dom doubled over in laughter. You could tell the boy was already feeling good. "Hey Sel!"
"My my my, if that's not a face I haven't seen in a while." Shane, of all people, stepped up.
"It's been a while. Hasn't it?" I shrugged. This couldn't be any more awkward.
"You two know each other?" Jc gave a nervous laugh.
"Used to." Shane's tone was cold, yet his stare said otherwise.
"We go way back." All I wanted to do was hide at this point. I could feel everyone's eyes on us.
"So, would someone care to explain?" Sam, of all people piped up.
"You see, there's not much to explain." Shane started. "We knew each other way way back, lost touch, and now we're here."
"It's not a promising story." I laughed.
"So nothing juicy? I got the popcorn for nothing?" Connor gasped.
"I mean, we dated briefly. But we were what, like 11?" Shane chuckled.
"It was one date, and he cut my ponytail when I said I didn't want to date him anymore." I shook my head, those were the innocent times.
"I'm still confused." Jc scratched his head.
"My poor baby." I started rubbing his arm, I didn't know what else to tell him.
"I mean we hooked up once or twice too." Shane blurted out with a shrug.
