Even with a freshly broken heart and an empty apartment; adjusting to the lifestyle of the poor and hungry came easy. The first few days I spent alone, searching the penny saver ads for any job I could find in the area. Waiting for my car to be shipped over before finding a job would be impossible, I was barely making end meet as it was. While my parents were kind enough to pay my rent, everything else was on me and my savings were quickly vanishing. Bus boys and waitresses seemed to be the only jobs in the area and there was absolutely no way I'd be caught dead living on that kind of salary. If it wasn't one thing it was another, most of the jobs actually advertised were either already filled or required a crazy amount of experience.
Flight pilot.
Day care teacher.
Pharmacy technician.
Like really LA, land of dreams and this is all you're offering me?!

A loud knock shocked me out of my inner battle. Not only did I not want to answer the door, I wasn't exactly wearing pants. Eh, oh well.

"Hey babe." Sam smiled when I finally opened the door after his consistent banging. "Cute butt."

"What do you want?" I laughed.

"Kian's over with Andrea, and they're fighting so I thought I'd swing by and see how you're doing." He shrugged. He sat on the couch and criss crossed his legs, patting the area beside him until I did the same.

"I'm good. Looking for a job is just exhausting." I let out what felt to be the millionth groan of the day.

"Who needs a job when you're as gorgeous as you are?" He smiled, playfully hitting my knee.

"I could be an underwear model." I laughed at my own misfortune.

"We can walk around to places, see if they're hiring. I mean if you want." His rosy cheeks seemed to brighten.

"That's probably a good idea. I need something before I start to get really desperate and put myself on the corner." Half truth.

"Go put some pants on or something. Although you may get hired on the spot with that ass." He laughed, smacking my rear as I walked by. I laughed along, smacking him upside the head.

My closet was bare, all of my clothes were either scattered on the floor or still in boxes waiting to be put away. I guess moving in wasn't exactly on my list of priorities. Luckily, my favorite dress was out, waiting to be worn. You can never go wrong with a little black dress! Sliding the dress on, a glimmer in the mirror caught my eye. On my nightstand sat the ring Jc had given me, our forever ring as he called it.

"Yeah, forever my ass." I muttered. "Sam!"

"What's up?" He casually walked into my room like he hadn't been waiting outside my door.

"I can't do this." I sighed. I picked up the ring to hand to him. "Will you give this back to Jc?"

"Selena, you know I love you, but I can't do that." He pouted.

"I don't want to see him."

"You can't avoid him forever." He clapped. "Now if your cute ass is ready, I snagged you an interview."

short chapters suck, but this needed to end here, sorry loves!

anyway, I need a few new characters to introduce in an upcoming chapter, so if you'd like to be part of the story, leave a comment with a character name, and personality/visual description. You can make it you, or totally made up.
