"You like it right?" He had asked several times that night.
I stared down at the ring, it's beauty was something I couldn't get over.
At the time of the "not proposal" I didn't know what to expect. Jc had been true to his word though: even after he went back to California, things had been nearly perfect. Despite the distance, we managed fairly well.
However, all of this was about to change. Here I was in California, bags in hand, and Jc had no idea.
Summer had come and gone which meant my lease was up. If this wasn't the best opportunity to move out here I don't know what was. The boys were coming off of a small tour, and I was lucky enough to land in the same airport that they would, just a little bit before they did.
I have these thoughts so often i ought-
"Hello?" I answered.
"Baby!" Speak of the devil. "I missed you so much, we just landed."
"Did you wait to get to baggage claim to call me this time?" I laughed, my heart racing.
"Nope, walking down the stairs." He chuckled.
I turned my attention to the only stairs near me. There he was, fumbling to hurry down the steps.
"Jc I need to tell you something." I sighed, trying to sound sad.
"Baby what's wrong?" I could see him frown. "Oh wait hold on." He put his phone down. A blonde, who's face I couldn't see wrapped him in a hug. She kissed his hand and wrapped their arms together. "Hey baby sorry about that, now what's wrong?"
My heart was slightly breaking, who was this girl?
"Jc look straight ahead." I scoffed.
I watched as he stopped dead in his tracks, obviously caught off guard. As he walked towards me I was tempted to run, to just leave and not deal with this in a public place.
"Baby?" he half grinned, the blonde still on his arm. He quickly shrugged her off and wrapped his arms around me. It took me a minute to hug him back. "Are you okay? What are you doing here?"
"I'm fine. I moved out here." I shrugged, pointing at my bags. "I wanted to wait for you here, but I should've just gone straight to my apartment, sorry." I eyed the girl who was bravely still standing there.
"Apartment? Moved here? What?" He looked like a little kid in a candy store. "I'm sorry I just can't believe you're here, I was telling Jenn on the plane that I was about to go jump on another flight to go see you but you're here!"
"He was really excited. I'm Jenn." The girl smirked.
"I really should go, my Uber's here." I tried picking up my bags. Of course Jc swooped in before I could.
"Give me a minute, I see my bag, I'll go with you." he jumped. He walked off to retrieve his bag, with mine clutched in his fists.
If being left with the girl that was all over your boyfriend wasn't awkward, I don't know what was.
"You guys are cute." She smirked again.
"Duh." I couldn't help but laugh.
"JcPenney's cuter." She flipped her hair.
"Yeah, see the store's cute, but ratchets shop there. That's where your outfit's from right? So street chic." I gave her a fake smile. Jc thankfully popped up before she could open her mouth again.
"Ready baby?" He couldn't stop smiling.
"Ready." I grabbed a bag out of his hand and slid my own hand into his. This girl wasn't about to ruin Jc and I's reunion.
"I missed you, alot." He said, throwing our bags into the back of the waiting Uber.
"I missed you too." I finally said back when we were both in the car. "How was the tour?"
"Fine I guess. Sucked that you couldn't come with me, but the guys and I had fun. Does Sam know you're here yet?"
"Nope." I popped the p. "Just you and that girl."
"Oh right Jenn." he got quiet.
"Jc are you okay?" I squeezed his hand.
"Yeah I'm fine." He squeezed back. "It's just, you know fan girls, they're wild."
"How wild?"
"They do these ship things, and I guess I spent a lot of time around Jenn, and these girls keep asking if I'm dating her and when I say no they always reply with 'well you should be'. It's uncomfortable. And Jenn, she likes that attention and stuff."
"That's why she was all over you?"
"I'm sorry you had to see that, I just don't know how to deal with it." He pouted.
"She has a problem with me." I crossed my arms. I had never been more annoyed with a girl.
"There's nothing there. I promise." He grabbed my face softly, forcing me to look into his perfect little eyes. I hated when he did this.
"I believe you." I let out a sigh.
This is what I came here for, moments like this with him. I didn't come here so some little girl could ruin everything for me.
I got this apartment for one reason and one reason only, to be with Jc.
