12: Story Told

RICH'S POV
I just can't stop staring at her. She looks so beautiful when she sleeps, so innocent. I see her eyelids moving slowly. She opens her eyes, those eyes. She sits up, looking confused, she turns her head in many ways, from side to side.
"Why did you bring me here?" she says quickly with a trembled voice
"Because I thought you were kidnapped by them"
"But....I need to go back" she stands up
I quickly grab her arm.
"NO!" I shout
"Why?" she turns around.
"Because...everyone is looking for you, and don't you remember you wanted to go to the ZeaWitch"
"Rich I need to stay there" she points to the lagoon.
"Why?"
She sits down
"I can't tell you" She avoids eye contact.
"Why?"
"Because...I can't" a tear went down her cheek. I Reach my arm out and wipe of the tear, I keep holding her face and lift her chin up, and she looks at me, her hazel eyes, they are frightened, scared.

"Why are you scared?" I ask quietly

I look at her shoulder, I can see some faint lines, a design. She has a tattoo.

"What's that on your back? And why are your lips very red?" I say

"I was kidnapped, but not by mermaids. I was kidnapped by Captain BloodBeard." my mouth drops open. BloodBeard he's one of the most blood thirsiest Captains in the world.

"He said that he wanted me. To keep his map a secret, his mate tattooed the map on my back, that's why he told me to go the lagoon, and hide, only to come out when he called me. But then I heard you singing. I knew that the mermaids were hungry tonight so I observed them. Then I kept on grabbing the other mermaids tails and get rid of them. But then you landed into the water, I got very very scared. And when you went to land, the mermaids thought I was you, but they swam away, because of a... Merman. I don't know who he was. But still I have to go back to the lagoon."
"What about your lips?"
"I don't want to tell you that"
"Why?"
"No, please" and she starts crying.

I take her into a hug and she cries softly into my chest.

"Star, please. You know what, tell me about how you.became a mermaid, please, I find it very interesting" I say

"Ok,
Upon one summers midnight,
I carefully did stray
To by the rocks of wapping
Where I met a merman him.

His hair it hangs in ringlets
His eyes as blue as the sea
But for my jolly sailor
Until he stays here day and night.

My heart is pierced by cupid
I disdain all glittering gold

I met my friend from years
He was mine I knew.
But when he broke me heart
I never wanted to know that again

But when I saw what I saw

" So thats why your lips are red, you had to kill someone" I say, she nods.
"Was it that person who was on the longboat" she nods and cries.

I hug her. As we drift off into a sleep.
