It was the noise that scared Isabella the most. It was deafening, and even when she and Dean tried to communicate in the precious seconds afterwards, they couldn't hear each other. Dean threw himself across to her, pinning her to the wall, but it was too late. Rubble was falling from the ceiling, and a whole wall had collapsed. Isabella had a gash on her arm, a piece of glass lodged in her shoulder and had stepped on a piece of broken mirror, causing her foot to bleed. Once it was all over, Dean still had her pinned to a wall, checking to make sure she was alright. Seeing where she was hurt, he went to pick her up to carry her out, but she told him to look at the door before he did. The ceiling had collapsed over that part and they were trapped. Judging by the damage, the bomb hadn't been set off in Belle's room, but the one next door. Sam's room.
Outside, Sam and Evie were looking shocked. The room Sam had gotten was obliterated, crumbling away into nothing, and Isabella's room looked on the verge of breaking in half. "Dean?! Isabella?!" Sam yelled, running over to the room. Dean's voice was coming faintly from the bathroom, and he saw that the ceiling had collapsed. After making sure they were okay, mostly, Sam looked at the structure, wondering how he was going to get them out. Evie stood behind him, saying they should just get out while they could. Sam turned on her, saying in a loud, angry voice "That is both of our families in there! I will NOT abandon them." He then turned, ignoring her. "Sammy, what's going on?" Dean called. Sam ignored Dean's voice, and focused on finding a way to get them out. Well, he would put in a few calls for help, anyway.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Dean and Isabella were still standing in the same spot, unable to move due to the rubble everywhere. Belle shivered, the towel doing little to keep her covered and warm as the chill from outside seeped into the room. Dean took off one of his many layers, and gave her his jacket. She huddled into it, grateful for the warmth it provided. Outside, Sam started to raise his voice. "Sammy, what's going on?" Dean yelled out, but there was no reply. Dean swore quietly, saying "Son of a bitch" as he waited for Sam to save them. Isabella looked at Dean, and started to apologize for everything, crying as she did. Dean was quick to comfort her, saying it was all in the past, reassuring her that he didn't care that much (a complete lie, but still) and he held her, as she started shivering against him. He kissed her head, and then her lips, desperate and gentle at the same time. She was still crying, but she fell into the kiss, wishing that she could just forget the world and live in this moment forever. Unfortunately, help arrived, and they broke apart, jumping as Cas appeared, almost silently. That was it for Belle. Way too much. And with that, she fainted.
Dean caught her, and picked her up, careful to make sure the towel still covered her. She seemed so peaceful, and fragile. Cas healed her, making sure that she was okay, then zapped them out to Sam standing outside by the Impala. Cas stayed with them until Isabella woke up, Sam sitting by her and holding her as Dean went into her room to grab her things. As she woke, Cas spoke in his deep voice. "The people after you are human, and are vicious. They will stop you all by any means necessary. Be careful." Isabella laughed without humor. "Really, they seemed really sweet to me." Her sarcasm coming out to play. "No, they are very dangerous." Cas said in a deep voice, completely misunderstanding Belle. "They will try to cause you harm. They are the ones who caused this." Dean came back out with her bags, and told her to get changed in the Impala while they all stood guard. She put on a dress, as it was the quickest and easiest thing to put on, along with flats and a coat. As she emerged, she saw Cas was already gone, and asked where Evie was. "She left." was Sam's short and angry reply. Sam looked down at her, and his face melted into a smile. "I am glad you are ok, I was worried." She smiled back at him, and he leaned down and kissed her, then picked her up around the waist, twirling her around. Dean coughed uncomfortably, and they broke apart.
As they drove away, the police showed up. Seriously, they need to work on their reaction time. They drove out onto the open road, and saw a car broken down on the side of the road. Evie. Dean started to slow, but Sam said not to. Isabella piped up, agreeing. So they drove past, seeing Evie's look of hope and relief turning to anger when she realized what they were doing. She started running after them, but they left her in the dust. It felt good to be together again. There was a slight awkward air because of Sam's display of affection. But Isabella was tired, and it had been an intense night. So, as the Impala started to eat up the road, she settled in the back and went to sleep. The Impala didn't stop all evening, headlights on, driving on the lonely highway.
Early the next morning, the Impala drove into a town, and as it slowed, Belle woke up. After checking what town they were in, she checked her notebook to find someone to stay with. She found two names, and went to one of the homes. She explained that Sam and Dean were her new guardians and they needed a place to stay. She made herself look as pitiful as possible, and it worked like a charm. They slept all day and night, and left the following day. They continued like this, crossing the country, until they arrived back in Isabella's hometown. She was slightly confused to be back, but enjoyed it. She offered a flimsy explanation to friends and teachers, and everyone was sympathetic. The cats had somehow survived, by a miracle, and she fed them a ton of food. Everything seemed so normal it was eerie. They lived there for a month, keeping a low profile. Alana was helpful for this, as she had apparently been coming over to feed the cats every so often, so it seemed normal for there to be noise and people in the house.
But it was all too soon shattered. They were spotted by one of the people working for Jason, after they decided to do a hunt again. So they ran. And they didn't stop. Their lives became that of cat and mouse, constantly looking over their shoulders, and running away. The brothers would sometimes disappear for months, and only reappear if things became dangerous for Isabella to continue living in a certain place. But unbeknownst to them all, Evie was tracking them, and reporting to Jason. A storm was coming for them. And Evie was going to make sure they didn't survive it.
