Emerald eyes.

Chapter 1

"Sapphire, late again. I'm guessing you don't have a tardy slip?" "Guessed right." She walked over to her seat where two of her friends were sitting and talking with each other. When Sapphire sat down next to them, they both looked over. Myre smirked. "So, why were you late today?" Rose raised her hand slightly "Yes, I also have the same question." Sapphire smiled and raised her brows. "I was with Cal." Myre's face faltered. "And Cal would be..?" Sapphire shrugged and started pulling things out of her bag, facing away from them. "This guy I've been talking to. I told him it was my birthday tomorrow and he offered to give me a present." She looked at them through the corner of her eye to see Rose and Myre looking at each other. "What kind of present would this be exactly?" Rose asked as she moved her arms in a way that showed she wanted more of an explanation. Sapphire grinned and turned to face them, pulling her hair back and lifting her head to reveal a sparkling emerald necklace. "This kind of present."

"So he just showed up.. And gave it to you? Nothing else?" Sapphire nodded. "Nothing but a hug." Myre looked around as if looking for something to say. "And you said it's real?" Sapphire grinned again, keeping her hand rested lightly against the emerald. "Absolutely." "That is totally dope man." Rose looked between the two then down and walked into the classroom. Sapphire laughed. "I know, right?" Myre made an strange, unsure sound. "Ehh.. I don't know.. I have a bad feeling about this... What do you know about this guy?" Sapphire took her seat and turned to look Myre in the eye. "I know enough to believe that I can trust him."

"Sapphire!Sapphire!Wake up!" Pain. Something, or rather, someone, was jumping on her stomach." Get the fuck off of me man!!" She screamed, shoving her little brother off of her and onto the floor. " What the fuck is wrong with you?!" He looked up at her from the floor with tears in his eyes. He rubbed his head. "Nothing... I just wanted to tell you Happy Birthday, you didn't have to do that." Her nostrils flared but she managed to hold back her anger by rubbing her temples. If she thought about it, it was kind of sweet so she tried to be nice. "Get out... please." She looked up at him and as his eyes met hers fear flashed across his face. He jumped up and ran out, squeaking out a "Sorry!" as he left. Sapphire groaned and pulled on her glasses before looking at the clock on her nightstand: 5:53. She got up and slowly walked over to her closet, letting out a yawn as she looked through her things for something to wear. Something that would catch everyone's eye.

Sapphire walked into the cafeteria wearing black fish nets, combat boots, ripped shorts, a green bellybutton shirt that slightly hung over her right shoulder, a leather jacket, and of course, the emerald necklace Cal had given her. She walked to the breakfast line with the desired result of her wardrobe: Everyone was looking at her. As she got her breakfast pizza and her apple juice she ignored all of them because for right now, the only person she had eyes for, was Cal. She made her way back to her things and waited there for her friends. Something felt different today.. Not just because it was her birthday either. It was something strange... something that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

"Holy fuck. you look sick Sapphire." Myre looked her up and down as Sapphire posed in various ways. Yeah I know." They laughed and Myre kept a smile as she headed to the breakfast line. Sapphire sat down and waited. Not soon after, Rose walked through the door and came over to stand by Sapphire. After a moment Rose said "Sapphire, you look amazeballz. clothes. totes swaggalishes." Sapphire laughed "Thanks Rose." Rose smiled and sat down beside her. A moment later Myre walked back to them and handed Sapphire the food. " So.. Sapphire, it's tomorrow, for dinner, at Apple bees?" Sapphire nodded as she took a bite of her pizza. "Yup." She said with a mouth full. She looked around then swallowed before looking at them again. "Wear something nice for me girlies." She smiled as Rose lightly nodded and Myre rolled her eyes.
