"This place is really fancy Cal." Sapphire moved around awkwardly in her seat. Cal reached across the table and took her hand. "Don't worry... it's not... that fancy." He smiled and leaned closer. "I have another surprise for you." Sapphire furrowed her brows and heard the beginning of 'Rebel Love Song' "Um." Sapphire looked around, curious as to why such a high standard place would be playing something of this... genre. As sapphire heard Andy's voice she melted. But it sounded slightly off.. well.. slightly better. Sudden realization hit her. "Andy's here." She looked around trying to find her beautiful dark angel. There, a man was wearing a black suit and had his hair all poofed up and spiked out. As if he knew that she had spotted him, he stood up and turned to face her. She turned and looked back at Cal. "How did you do..." He smiled. "I have my ways love."

On the walk to the movie theater Cal seemed off and kept checking his watch. "Do you have somewhere you need to be?" He looked at her as if confused. "What?" "You keep looking back at your watch." He looked at it once more before he smiled sheepishly. "Sorry gem, no. I just don't want us to be late. She nodded and looked at her own phone to check the time. 6:11. she was going to be 17 in 2 minutes. She smiled and looked at him, giving his hand a little squeeze, so happy that he was the person she was going to turn 17 with. They continued walking down the street together for about another 30 seconds. After that, he shoved her into an alley. "What the fuck Cal?!?" He put his hand over her mouth. "Shh, don't worry, it's ok love." He started pushing her deeper into the alley. Panicking, she bit his hand and punched him in the gut. When he let go of her she pushed passed him and ran towards the street but stopped just short of it when she got an overwhelming sensation of pain. She fell to her knees, hunching over and beginning to cry and scream in pain. Cal came up behind her and grabbed her under the arms, pulling her back into the alley. When he got to the end he sat down with her. "It's ok gem .. it will be over soon.."He ran his hand up and down her back, trying to sooth her as she lay curled up in his arms ."Soon the pain will be gone and replaced by amazing strength."
She let out a deep, shakey breath as she tried to take in what he was saying. 'Amazing strength'? What strength could she possibly gain from this. Everything hurt. It felt as if she were being ripped apart from the inside out. She let out another cry of pain. Tears rolled down her cheeks and wouldn't stop. Nothing would stop. She wanted it to end. She wanted to beg Cal to kill her then and there, but she couldn't. It would be impossible for her to attempt to form coherent words. She couldn't even think straight.
Cal continued talking to her, trying to dull the pain in any way he could. He told her it would be ok. That everything would be fine in time. That the pain wouldn't last. But she didn't want to listen to him. She didn't even want him to touch her. Better? The pain will be gone? It only seemed to get worse. She let out another scream. She sobbed in his arms, unable to move. How long had it been now? It felt like forever... She got another burst of pain. It started at her heart and traveled throughout her entire body. She let out another, louder scream. This one sounded different from the other ones though. It sounded deeper, uglier, more disoriented.
And it was the last thing she heard as her world faded to black.

She stretched, extending her limbs as far as she could. Was that just a dream? Just a horrid dream? It felt so real... but it must have just been a dream.. a figment of her.. imagination. "Sapphire." Her eyes snapped open and she looked up to see Cal's golden eyes. Sapphire went to say something, to ask him what was going on and what he was doing and so many, many other things. But instead of hearing her voice, she heard a growl.
Only then did she completely look at Cal to see that it wasn't him at all. Instead it was a dog with jet black fur and Cal's eyes. It must be where the growl came from, not her! It sounded too much like and animal to have been her.
She just stared, unable to move. It was looking directly at her. She was terrified. It was larger than any dog she had ever seen before "Sapphire." She heard Cal call again. Her head snapped to the side, her eyes searching frantically to find Cal. Maybe he could help her, save her from the beast now sitting in front of her and staring her down. Despite what she thought he might have done, she couldn't help but want him there to help. He made her feel safe. She tried to call out 'Cal' but instead, a bark tore through the air. She whimpered. What happened to her? "Stand up gem." She looked back at the dog. For some reason she had the feeling that Cal's voice was coming from it. She let out a little bark (This time on purpose) in the direction of the dog. The dog took a few steps back and sapphire let out a heavy breath and tried to stand up, finding it more difficult than it should have been. She was on her hands and feet. She looked down and saw two paws. She backed up and saw them do the same. 'What the fuck? Am I..' "You're a werewolf gem." Sapphire looked at the dog , who was closing the distance he had given her before. She stepped back. 'A werewolf? Wait.. could he.. can you read my mind?' The dog, who she now assumed was Cal nodded. She stopped and laughed in her head then let out a bark. 'That's fucking awesome bro!' she stopped and looked at him. 'Why did I turn into a werewolf?'
Cal walked past her to the end of the alley. Sapphire growled 'Well?' She walked over to him, waiting. "Follow." He ran around the corner. 'I'm not some-! wait...' She sighed and trotted behind him, looking around at the dark empty street.

'So why did I turn into a wolf?' "Because , you're a werewolf, love." Sapphire looked at him. 'Well yeah, I got that part, but why?' He looked around before looking at her. "Because your grandma was one. It skips a generation, your mother probably has no idea what you, or your grandmother are." Sapphire nodded 'And you knew this from the beginning?' He let out a breath and looked forward. "Well .. not from the very beginning. But as time went on and it got closer to your 17th birthday, when you finally change, I began to pick up on your more..." He looked at her and she could see the smile in his eyes. "Animalistic nature." She turned away. 'Whatever that's supposed to mean.'
'Where are we going?! I have to get home and go to sleep soon Cal! I have plans for tomorrow. Besides, what are my parents going to think when i'm not there in the morning? Hell! They've probably already checked in on me and called the cops!'
Cal took a sharp turn and Sapphire looked around. 'Why does this place seem so familiar?' Cal looked at her "Because this is about a mile or so down the road from where you live." He looked back out of the woods and down the street. "I think it's safe for you, but I have to leave... I didn't want you walking around alone.. I can't walk you down this road." She huffed 'Well why not?' she saw him glance over at her from the corner of his eye before looking forward again. "Because they know me around here... they've seen me.. I'll be shot on sight." She saw his ear twitch then he turned to look at her. "I have to go now." 'Wait, but wh-' "I'll see you tomorrow." And with that he ran off. 'Well.. so much for a kiss goodnight." She sighed and started trotting down the road to her house. Remaining in the shadows.
