They got thrown off the bus laughing.Rose looked back at the bus driver who stared angrily at them before driving off. "Nothing like that has ever happened to me before.." She shook her head and he smiled, raising a brow. "Ever? This kind of thing happens to me all the time." He grinned and pulled on the strap of his backpack, pulling it up and trying to look around at the now darkened street.
Rose also looked around. "Where are we?" James shrugged and smiled at her. "Hell if I know.. come on an adventure with me through the night?" As cheesy as that sounded, Rose loved it. She looked around again. "where to first?" James looked down both ends of the road before he pulled out a coin. "Let's flip for it. Heads, we go in your direction, tales, we go in mine." She nodded. "That sounds pretty fair." He nodded as well and flicked his thumb, sending the coin up then caught it as it came back down. He slapped the top of his opposite hand then moved the hand that had caught the coin so that he could see which side it had landed on. "That-a-way!" He said as he pointed in Roses direction and started marching. She laughed. "Dope"
As they were walking down the street together they talked. She asked him what Britain was like and he asked about her. "Why is your hair pink and purple?" She brushed her hair behind her ear. "Because I wanted to express myself through my hair." She nodded and smiled looking up at him. He ran his hand through her hair and watched as it softly fell back onto her shoulders. "Beautiful.." She looked down blushing. "Thank you." He put his hand under her chin and lifted her head so that his eyes met hers. "I meant you." She was at a loss for words as he moved in
A car squealed around the corner and stopped there, the headlights stuck on the two. "Of course." He took Rose's hand and started running with her fumbling behind. What was going on? What was about to happen? Who the hell was in that car? Rose cleared her mind and found her footing so that she was going at the same pace as him. "Who is that?" "No time for questions now. I'll answer them later, I swear." Rose took his word for it and followed blindly behind him as she heard the screech of the car's tires on the road. They turned into a narrow alley then ran across the street and into another alley where they found some thrash cans and hid behind them. Rose stayed close to James, remaining as quiet as possible and he held her tight. Within a matter of minutes there wasn't a sound in the night except for the sound of their breathing, which was starting to grow quieter as their heart rate slowed.
After a few more minutes she looked up at him to see that he was staring down the alley from the direction that they had come from. She looked down the alley too and saw nothing. She closed her eyes and whispered very quietly to herself: "With the eyes of a cat." The good thing about being a fairy is that they can do most of the things that a majority of animals can do. And while other animals do have a kind of night vision, she preferred cat's for.. no reason at all, really.
When she opened her eyes again she still saw nothing. She blinked again and looked very closely this time. There, at the very end of the alley, something was crawling toward them. But, according to everything that Rose knew about animals, which was a lot, that wasn't an animal. Well, it was.. but not like a dog or a cat. There was a person crawling toward them, someone who probably didn't know that rose and james would be able to see them with how slowly they moved.
This absolutely terrified her. She looked at James again to see him looking at her with fear and.. curiosity in his eyes. He leaned close and whispered "Can you see him?" She nodded nervously. If he could see this guy then that would mean that James was something other than human, but that doesn't exactly clarify what. He leaned in and whispered to her again. "What are you?" She looked at him then back at the man crawling towards them. They could always stand up and run for it. Then she could claim that she just had amazing eyesight (which wouldn't be very likely in this case.)But if they were to do that then the man would more than likely stand and run after them. If James is something supernatural then they could both get away quickly, despite what he was. She let out a breath and looked at him then whispered back "Fairy." His eyes lit up and he said at a normal volume. "Chinese garden." With that he was gone. He's a fairy! She turned to her smaller form and rushed to the Chinese garden by the lake.
When she got there she saw him sitting inside the gazebo. She walked over to him. "so, you're a fairy?" He looked up at her and nodded. "That's right cupcake." He stood up to meet her then handed her a slip of paper. "What's this?" "It's my phone number, I have to leave, but message me when you can." He turned around and gave Rose a hug then kissed her cheek. "I'll see you again?" She blushed brightly and nodded. He smiled then disappeared. She sighed dreamily then turned to her fairy form and flew toward her house. She went in through her window and layed down in bed with a smile on her face. She pulled out her phone and entered his number before she lost it. She'd text him in the morning.
