"Oh so close to where you came from. Plugged in I'm in your world now. So lost without a map, you dropped me off on the highest mountain..."

I slowly awoke to my phone buzzing and ringing. I rolled over and let out a tired moan. Who was calling me? I picked up my phone to see who it was. It was Glen. I slid my thumb across the screen to answer the call. "Hello?" I said, still groggy from the unexpected call.

Glen: Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey!!!

I groaned.

Patience: Glen it's 6:30 A.M. Let me sleep.

Glen: Ah come on. It's not that early. I know you have something to do with the extra 30 minutes. Put on your makeup or do your hair. Drink a cup of coffee and relax for a bit before school. You know you like it when Megan is still asleep and not jumping down your throat.

I considered this, then sighed and sat up. True I thought.

Patience: Yeah, you do have a point.

I stood up and walked over to my dresser and grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and my Falling in Reverse shirt.

Patience: Text me, okay?

Glen: Alright. And you're welcome!

Patience: Thank you! (I responded mocking his tone as I hung up.)

After I had gotten dressed, put on my makeup and somewhat fixed my hair it was 7:20. I didn't have time to make coffee. I picked up my backpack and went down stairs. "Bye aunt Megan!!" I hollered as I was rushing out. I remembered that I would have to be late after school again. I poked my head back through the door. "Oh! I have to stay after school today because I'm..." I quickly thought up an excuse. "I have to help decorate posters!!" I said as I questioned what kind of excuse that was inside my head, but knowing that it would have to do. I quickly closed the door and jogged to Glen's car. Megan was probably furious with me, I didn't want to leave any time for her to react. I got into the car. Glen usually took me to school when I didn't want to wake up at 5 A.M. to catch the early bus.

-

As we arrived at the school I sighed not wanting to get out. "Patience, you have to go." Glen stated, pointing out the obvious. "I know, I know." I replied dreading it. I gave him a hug and got out of the car. "Good luck today." He said to me as I was closing the door. "Thank you" I said back to him. I closed the car door and walked up the steps to the front doors. I really don't want to be here right now, I thought as I walked in looking at all the people who disliked me or didn't care about me. I started walking to my class. For some reason I felt like today was going to go slower than usual.

-

I was in my last period of the day when I felt my phone buz in my pocket. I lifted my head and looked around the classroom. My teacher was occupied in grading papers so I checked the message.

Sam: Really?? Stop being so mopey. No wonder nobody wants to talk to you. ;)

I rolled my eyes at the message and put my phone back. "Did you ever think that maybe I'm just tired??" I responded to the text in my mind as I laid my head back down. She looked at me and dropped her jaw, shocked that I didn't reply to her text. Joking or not, I wasn't in the mood for her comments today. The bell finally rang some 15 or 20 minutes later. I got up and grabbed my backpack. Sam confronted me in the hallway.

Sam: What the hell was that about?!

"Oh good lord. She ignores and ditches me all the time, but when I ignore her I'm committing the biggest crime possible." I thought to myself. "Look. I'm just not in the mood today. I have to be somewhere, so we can talk later, okay?" I responded to her in a hurry. The coffee shop was the only thing I was looking forward to today, and I wasn't about to let her get in my way. She crossed her arms and gave me a mean stare, blocking me from going down stairs. "Oh come on Sam, let me go. Don't you have after school rehearsal or something?" I thought of ways to get her to move. Maybe if... "You know Megan is going to kill me if I'm late today Sam." I said trying to remind her that I didn't have the freedom she had to talk around the staircase for 10 minutes. "Don't give me that crap. I know you're not in this much of a hurry to get home. So what are you doing that's so important that you can't talk to your best friend?" I rolled my eyes and mumbled under my breath "You're not my best friend." Sam cleared her throat. "What was that?" she asked. "Oh God, she heard me", I thought. I had a chance to fix what I just said, but I didn't want to. She wasn't my best friend any more. "I'm not your best friend?" She repeated. I looked at her holding my breath. What was I even supposed to say?? I stayed silent and stared at her. "Whatever." She said as she shoved me to the side and walked the opposite direction. I stumbled off to the side. The shove was pretty forceful. I rubbed my shoulder where she had shoved me. "Damn" I said quietly as I made my way down stairs to walk to the coffee shop.

-

As I was walking up I saw the gentleman I was supposed to be meeting leaning up against the short brick wall. He stood up straight to approach me. "Hey" he said smiling, I smiled back at him. He opened his arms to greet me with a hug. I found it odd that he didn't even know me but wanted to hug me. "This is new", I thought as I accepted the hug. He opened the door for me and playfully said "Watch out! Don't run into a stranger and make him spill his coffee all over himself!!" I laughed, "I'm sorry!! I didn't mean to! I wasn't paying attention!" I continued to laugh as we made our way to the front counter. When the girl asked what name to put our order under I looked at him. "You can put it under your name." he said to me. I looked back at the girl and told her to put it under the name Patience. We went to go find a seat together as he looked at me, "So Patience huh?" he asked. I looked back at him and nodded while giving him an "mhmm". He seemed to like the name. "What's your name?" I asked him. He hesitated, but then the girl at the counter called my name. I went to stand up when he told me to sit back down, and that he would go get them. "How nice" I thought to myself. He came back with the coffees and I smiled at him then cleared my throat. "So, what brings someone as awesome as you to such a crappy town like here?" I asked him. He looked at me for a few moments then responded, "Oh! Yeah! Actually, would you happen to know where this is?" He pulled a piece of paper out of his back pocket with an address written on it. I took it and examined it then looked up at him. I didn't know what to say. There was this really attractive guy, but complete stranger sitting right in front of me, and he was looking for my house. I managed to force the words out, "th-this is m-my address".
