I was asked for another chapter in this Edwin one-shot by @Jacquelyn01. So this chapter is dedicated to her. Hope you like it!
The Date
"Grandma, I don't know what to wear. He never told me where we're going so what do I do?" wailed Winry as she sat in the middle of her room with a closet full of clothing on the floor around her. It was extremely frustrating on her part. The one guy she truly loved liked her back and asked her out on a date. And here she was, running out of time and still didn't decide on what to wear.
Finally, her grandmother came upstairs and widened her eyes considerably while she fixed her glasses on her face. "Winry what did you do?" she asked aghast. Winry buried her face in her hands not wanting to cry out in frustration.
"I can't find an outfit for tonight," she cried as she looked up at her grandmother with tears brimming her eyes. Pinako, her grandmother, sighed and rubbed the space between her eyes and nose.
"What is happening tonight?" she asked. Winry looked up and sighed.
"You know that boy I had a crush on for the longest time?" she asked. Pinako rose a brow, listening. "Well...he sort of confessed to me earlier today and asked me out on a...date," she finished. Pinako's mouth fell open and she stared at her granddaughter with shock. Then, she laughed and clapped her hands together.
"Finally! I always knew something was up with that boy. I always loved him from the start!" she exclaimed. Then she tore herself through Winry's closet, picking out an outfit while Winry stared at her confused.
Pinako came back with a cute yet casual outfit. It consisted of a cream colored pair of jeans and a dark blue blouse and black flats. Winry gawked at her and the outfit but then grabbed it and rushed in the bathroom to change.
After pulling the shirt over her and placing the flats on her feet, she began brushing her hair and put it up in a ponytail, leaving only a couple of strands of golden hair to compliment her face. She smiled and applied some light makeup.
Once she was done, she walked out and watched as her grandmother put the last of her clothes away. "Thanks grandma. I owe you one," she stated as she bent down and kissed her grandmother on the cheek. Pinako chuckled and looked her over.
"You look very beautiful. If he didn't really love you before, he'll love you now," she said with a wink. Winry blushed but laughed.
"I don't want him to love me because of my looks and you know that," she answered as she grabbed a black satchel and stuffed her wallet, cellphone, and whatever else she might need in there. Pinako nodded her head then sighed.
"I know. Well, you better get going. He'll be showing up soon I believe," she said as she began hobbling downstairs with Winry following behind.
As soon as they stepped in the living room, the doorbell rang. Winry looked panicked as she turned to her grandmother. "I...I don't know how I feel about this anymore," she whispered so he wouldn't hear her.
Pinako glared at her and shoved her towards the door. "Just open it up and go. You always dreamed of this day. Why back out now?" she spat as she glared at her granddaughter. Winry sighed and hung her head in defeat.
Her grandmother had a point though. She always dreamed of this day. Who knew it would come to pass?
She slowly shuffled towards the door and opened it just as Edward was going to knock again. "Oh there you are..." he trailed off as he looked her over. Winry felt like she was on fire as he looked at her from head to toe.
