Kendra's POV

Fun.

A word that I haven't used in a while.

I was having fun at prom and I loved the feeling . I've been dancing and laughing all night with my friends and I couldn't have been more thankful . I have the best family ever .

Ricky and I was dancing , so far, all night . Just rocking our hips to the beat of pop songs and slowly swaying to the slow songs .

Right now , black keys started playing after an upbeat song . And I honestly didn't want to think about Nick right now. Not when I'm having fun .

I lifted my head up from Ricky's shoulder and pulled back .

"I'm gonna be right back ", I told him with a small smile. He looked confused at first, then nodded .

I made my way through the crowd in the middle of the ballroom. Passing elegant gowns and tuxedos , making my way to the lobby of the hotel and outside .

I breathed in the fresh air that had suddenly engulfed me. The sky was dark and the street was lit up with cars, buses and people roaming them . I looked up to the sky and closed my eyes.

Nick is the last person I want on my mind right now . There's never going to be a "me and him" ever again and that was clear. He was a pop star and I was what? An ordinary girl thats about to graduate. The South America tour was an example of how things would be . I don't even have to point out what's wrong in all of that .

I was just letting my thoughts roam when the doors of the hotel opened and Ricky came out . I stayed silent and looked back up to the sky as he made his way next to me . We were silent for a moment before he spoke.

Ricky- "So are you enjoying prom?" I glanced at him and replied with a smile.

Kendra- "Yea. It's fun. I'm glad that I decided to come.. And I'm glad that I have you as my date."

Ricky- "Well someone had to be the prince and bring Cinderella out, So I thought why not me ?" He chuckled. His eyes glistening.

Kendra- "I appreciate it Ricky. Really." I gave him a sweet smile. We were silent for a moment.

Ricky- "Wanna get out of here?"

Kendra- "didn't you just hear me say I'm having fun ?"

Ricky- "Yup . But I don't think you are . not when that last song came on. So I'm gonna cheer you up."

Kendra- "and how are you gonna do that?"

Ricky- "easy." He outstretched his hand and I reluctantly took it . We started walking.

Kendra- "how do you expect us to go anywhere and we don't have a car? We came here in a Limo ." He stopped for a second . And I have him an amused expression . Then he started back walking again.

Ricky- "we can walk. It's nice out anyway . We're in downtown Chicago at night. "

Kendra- "okay"

So for the rest of the night we walked hand in hand, walking down the street of downtown Chicago. We walked to the Buckingham fountain to watch the colors and the water. We almost went on a horse ride, but I'm terrified of horses to be honest. But we walked and walked until we were at the pier, sitting down looking over the lake . Chicago is amazing.

Kendra- "I've never had the chance to see it like this , Ricky. I'm glad that we did ditch prom. Thank you." I touched his cheek.

Ricky- "no problem" he whispered . I leaned in until he met me half way . Prom was the best night ever, thanks to Ricky for being there for me.
