Reunited

A couple of days later, Nick surprised me with a trip to Chicago to go see my family. I was so excited, shocked, and thankful that he thought of bringing me back to see the people that I love the most.

We've landed in Chicago and instead of going straight to my parent's house, we went to the Hotel that over look the Buckingham fountain and the lake. As I expected he got us a room high up where the Buckingham fountain looks so small, and where you can see Lake Michigan. There's only one bed in the hotel room, so I guess Nick and I are sharing. But I really don't mind because Lake Michigan has always been beautiful to me.

When we've settled in the Hotel room, Nick and I went to see my family. When we got there they looked so surprised to see us. I don't think Nick called to inform them that he was surprising me with a trip here, turns out he surprised them too.

Nick soon had to leave to do something with his brothers. I honestly didn't know that Kevin and Joe were even here. I thought they were still in Paris because they didn't board the plane when Nick and I did.

While Nick was gone, I figured I had time to go see Asther and Nyla since I haven't saw them since the last time I've been here.

I borrowed my grandmother's car since she took off the rest of the day because I came home, and drove to Asther's house. It only took me about 15 minutes since Asther lives in Galewood and I live by Oak Park. Nyla lives in Galewood too so Asther and I will go over to her house when I get there.

I parked in front of Asther's house and begin to make my way to her front door. Its seriously been a while since I've been here, I though to myself. I run the doorbell and waited momentarily until someone came to the door. I heard the bolts unlocking nad the knob twisting until Asther's mom was soon revealed. I smiled brightly.

"Hi, Mrs.Simpson!" I exclaimed as I gave her a hug.

"It's been a long time, Kendra. How're you?" she asked.

"Oh, I'm fine. I'm just back visiting from Paris for a couple of days. Is Asher home?" I asked hopefully.

"She sure is." she said

"Asther!!!" she yelled up the stairs.

Asther soon came to reveal herself at the top of the stairs. She stopped and stared at me. As soon as she overcame her shock, she camerushing down the stairsand into my arms.

"Oh my god, I;ve missed you" she whispers into my ear. I hugged her tightly and nodded against her shoulder.

"I've missed you too...... Wanna get out of here?" I asked her pulling out of the hug.

"yea, let me get my purse" she runs upstairs and comes back downstairs closing the front door, and following me to the car. We got in and began to drive a block away from her house to Nyla's.

"So how was Paris?" She asks breaking the silence. I glance over to her in the passenger seat.

"Good, Good. But I'm going back. I'm only here for acouple of days."

Asther gets silent..

"But, I thought you were only going for the summer.." She says.

"No, I live their now. I have a job there and everything. I'm enrolling in the community college there in the fall."

"Oh.. I wish you could stay here and go to college with Nyla and I. We miss you like crazy, Kendra, You're torturing us." I glance her way again to see her body is facing me and she's saying this with hope in her eyes.

"I've lived here my whole life Asther. It's time for me to explore my options and try something new. You and Nyla could always come to Paris with me and we all could live there as roommates." I state.
