Somebody was being very loud.
"IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" I heard someone screaming, the anger in their voice rattling through my bones.
I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the loud sound. It only seemed to make the aching headache worse. My bones felt like lead, heavy and sore. I didn't move, just curled my head up against someone's chest. Soft hands were cupped beneath my legs and behind my back, holding me up and against them. Where was I?
Blinking rapidly, I swiped my hand across my eyes. The scene before me slowly came into place.
"I SWEAR IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" someone was yelling. Someone was raging. I shook my head, slowly lifting the fog away that clouded my senses. Louis was screaming, hollering at a little blonde head of hair trembling before him.
I had never seen my friend like that before. Something had taken over the silly boy I know, the one with the cheeky smile who bounced as he walked and didn't stop laughing. He was a monster. A demon, a creature I didn't know raging with a fury I had never seen before.
Darkness flashed behind his eyes. Cold and empty and void of all emotion. His muscles were taut, fists clenched. Ready to attack and fight and tear any apart. Absolutely terrifying.
Glancing up at the boy carrying me bridal style, I was met with the well known kind face of Liam. What had happened? It all seemed to be a blurry mess. Peering around at my surroundings, I saw we were in a deserted alley.
And it all came crashing down.
The boys chasing Niall, taking him in here, beating him up. I was held down, I pleaded I fought but their fists came down on the blonde boy mercilessly. It was brutal. My skin boiled at the memory. They had done that.
I looked back over at Louis. Niall was standing before him, stumbling and stammering and trying to make coherent sentences but unable to speak. But one look at Louis and you could see ready to tear him apart, chew him up, spit him out. Ready to inflict some real damage.
"You hit her! Right in the face!" Louis growled, "HOW DARE YOU LAY A FINGER ON HER!"
Oh. That was it wasn't it? My fingers touched at my face carefully, wincing at the amount of bruises that were probably dotting my cheeks. I had ran in the fight, trying to protect Niall, and Bam! I was hit, I was out like a light. But Niall? Everything had happened so fast.
"I didn't mean to!" Niall exclaimed, "I would never hurt her! Ever! It was an accident! I was trying to hit you guys! She got in the way, I'm so sorry! Let me see her!"
Louis cracked his knuckles, and I noticed Zayn beside him, looking just as angry. "You aren't seeing her for a while."
Don't let this happen, I scolded myself. "Stop!" I shouted, causing Liam to drop me in surprise. I fell nimbly to my feet, stumbling as I made contact with the ground.
Dizziness coursed through me, the world spinning into a mess of colors. A hand caught my elbow, steadying me.
"Stop it!" I repeated, finding my voice suddenly. I narrowed my eyes at Niall. "Niall, leave now. I'll talk to you later."
"But-"
"Just go Niall!"
The blonde boy looked at me regretfully, biting his lip.
Stooping down to pick up his back pack, he extended a hand towards me. "I'm so sorry."
Harry lunged at Niall, and Niall darted around the corner. Leaving me alone with these four. I watched his retreating head of blonde hair wearily.
"Katie..." Louis murmured, the cold looking melting off his face. He had his arms around me in seconds, nose buried in my hair.
"He punched you in the face, several times." he murmured, hugging me tightly.
I pushed his arms off, still feeling unsteady on my feet. "On accident! Because you guys were beating him up for no reason! Your to blame!"
A look of horror flitted through his eyes, "Me?"
My voice rose to a yell, "Yes you! I'm sick of this, I'm sick of all the trouble you guys cause! I hate how your mean to everyone but each other and me!"
Harry's face screwed up in confusion, "But we wanted to protect you."
My hands flew up into the air, "All you want to do is protect me! But tha doesn't mean you have to hurt everyone in life! That's not how you solve problems!" A breeze blew down the alley, rustling garbage at our feet,
"Just leave me alone." I whispered harshly, backing away from them all.
Louis extended his arms out, as if waiting for me to be there to hug him like I usually do. I shook my head. "Not this time."
I walked away, leaving them standing there, mouths agape. Louis was trembling, and there was a wave of pain going through his eyes that I had only seen on such rare occasions but-
"Not this time." I murmured, turning to leave, holding my bruised face carefully.
Zayn looked so confused, "But your hurt!" he called.
"Because of you!" I fired back, "You guys are too dangerous, too dark! Want to pretect me? Leave me alone!" I turned and abandoned the only people I really knew back in the battleground.
