"Louis!" I shrieked, balling up the back of his tshirt in my hand, "Put me down!"
My hair had fallen over my eyes and blocked my vision after Louis had slung me over his shoulder, his arms wrapping tightly around my legs to keep me in place. I heard police sirens going off in the background and the sound of sneakers skittering over the sidewalk as the boys fled the scene. The police must of gotten there by now and found an empty trashed car.
"Sorry Katie," Louis panted, "But I don't have time for you to be difficult now."
His long fingers tightened around my calf as I was jostled around from running and nearly sent tumbling to the ground.
Harry stopped and bent over, hands on his knees. "We-" he took a breath, "Need to find," breath, "A place to hide out for a bit."
Zayn ran a hand through his hair, dark eyes darting around quickly to take in our surroundings. "In there!" he exclaimed, pointing towards the tiny motel called 'Golden Getaway'.
My vision suddenly turned upside down as Louis swung me back onto my feet and began to pull down my shirt that had ridden up a bit over my stomach during the rough ride.
"Don't touch me.' I snapped, smacking his hand away.
Niall scrunched up eyes, cocking his head to the side. "That certainly does not look like a 'Golden Getaway',
"I expected more gold." Harry added with a cheesy smile, glancing around to see if anyone appreciated his joke. When nobody said anything his lips pursued out into a pout.
Louis though had his muscular arms crossed over his chest, one eyebrow raised as he stared at me. I felt his gaze burning against my skin but chose to ignore it.
He sighed, "Katie-"
"Don't you even try to act like its not a big deal and that you're doing what's right!" I interrupted haughtily, holding my hand up his face.
Louis reached up and grabbed my hand, pressing his thumb to the center of my palm until all my fingers curled in. "Katie, as much as I would love to, I can't keep you running around with me forever. Someday, you're gonna need to go home."
The word home brought immediate prickles of tears to my eyes, making my vision blur as I ducked my head and tried to hide behind my hair.
"Stop making her cry!" Zayn growled angrily, punching Louis the shoulder. Louis's face had broken out in confusion, mouth open in an 'o' and eyes widened.
"Oh shit, I'm so sorry Katie!" he exclaimed, tipping my chin up to look at him. I pulled away and wiped my eyes with my sleeve, sniffling pitifully.
I hated crying, I hated being weak in front of these boys who seemed to be nothing but strong and brave while I was an emotional mess. But all I could see was myself going home, and them running off to more adventure and having fun and getting into danger. I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to go back to normal life after all of this.
Because as much as I hated to admit it, I was actually starting to enjoy all of this. A little bit.
"Someone make her laugh!" Zayn commanded, turning towards the other boys expectantly.
Liam held up his hands and began to do the trick where it looks like your thumb is being taken off."Eh?" he said, looking at me while repeatedly pretending to take off his thumb.
I couldn't help but giggle at how idiotic he looked. Louis smiled happily, "There you are, I hate seeing you cry."
"Oh, I got one!" Harry exclaimed. After making sure all eyes were on him, he turned calmly towards the unsuspecting Niall and punched him hard in the crotch.
