My alarm clock buzzed loudly, rattling my bedside table. With a groan I pulled the covers over my head and reached out to slam my hand down on the snooze button.
"If you keep hitting the snooze button, you'll be late to school." a gruff voice said with a laugh.
Throwing the blankets off my head, I blinked in the sunlight flooding through my blinds, trying to find the source of the voice. My stomach dropped to my feet as I noticed a figure sitting on the edge of my bed.
With a scream I grabbed the nearest pillow and chucked it at his head, hitting him square in the face.
"Ow!" the person exclaimed loudly "What do you have in this pillow, rocks?"
I knew that voice. Rubbing my eyes furiously, I blinked until Louis came into my clouded vision. There he was. Sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Louis!" I groaned, flopping back onto my mattress, "What are you doing here?"
"Well its not just him babe." Zayn murmured, suddenly walking into my room and leaning against the doorframe. He crossed his arms and looked at me expectantly, "Don't you need to get ready for school?"
"Don't you need to be at home?" I fired back, stretching my arms out over my head. Louis scooted up and handed me my glasses. Shooting him a look, I slipped them on and took a look around.
"Where's Harry and Liam?" I asked, wrapping my blanket tighter around me. Louis eyed my bedroom door nervously.
"They're down stairs making breakfast." he said, listening to the clatter of dishes from the kitchen.
The loud crash of something shattering on tile echoed through the empty house.
"Damn." I heard Harry say. Louis rolled his eyes and smiled at me.
I slipped out of bed, shivering when my bare feet touched the cold ground. "Well why are you here is a better question."
Louis followed me as I hopped into the bathroom, "Your mom had to go to work early this morning, and you were home alone."
Turning on the sink, I watched in the giant mirror as he sat on the edge of the bathtub. "Well can you guys leave?" I asked, sticking my toothbrush in my mouth.
"No."
Our eyes met in the reflection, my light blue against his grey. He smiled at me calmly. I spit out a mouthful of toothpaste. "This cant keep happening."
Zayn came and joined Louis on the edge of the tub, "Wear a sweatshirt today love, it's getting cold out."
I ran a comb through my long waves, "Quit telling me what to do." Stopping to plug in my straightner, I wrinkled my freckled nose in the mirror, "Why do you guys even need to come in here? I'm fine on my own."
I sucked in a quick breathe as I burned my finger on my straightner. Louis frowned and reached for a washclothe, running it under cold water into the sink before pressing it onto the shiny burn on my hand.
"Obviously not." Louis murmured, unplugging my straightner and nudging me out the bathroom door. "Now hurry up. We want to catch up with Niall before school starts."
I turned around angrily. Yesterday after lunch, Niall had disappeared without a trace. I thought they were going to leave him alone.
"No way! Leave him alone!" I cried, reaching a hand up to hit his chest. Louis easily caught my wrists and drew me into him.
"Why do you care so much about this kid?" he asked softly, grabbing my chin in the other hand and forcing me to look at him.
I examined his long lashes carefully, "Cuz it's not fair what you're doing to him."
"But life's not fair."
