I sat in bed thinking. It's been almost a week and a half since Aaron and I broke up. I hadn't seen him at school once. Apparently he was "sick" which I didn't buy. But I tried to not dwell on it. I just needed to move on. No matter how hard it'd be.
I rolled out of my bed... Ugh. A Thursday. Monday's ugly step sister. It was the only thing in between me and Friday. I walked over to my closet. What to wear, what to wear....
I ended up pulling out my black leggings and Uggs. I topped it off with a pink vineyard vines shirt. I walked over to my vanity and applied one coat of foundation and some mascara. I tied my black mane into a high pony tail and put my black infinity scarf around my neck. I picked up my half conscience puppy and went downstairs. I attached Everest's leash to his collar and walked out of my house.
Since Everest didn't really enjoy walks that much I just planned on walking to the end of the neighborhood(six houses down) and turning back. The temperate was pretty chilly, even though it was a January. I started humming it the song Heroes by Tove Lo. But since I loved music, my hums turned into the song.
"We could be herooooooes me and youuuuuu." I sang. Everest stopped walking and tried running back to me. He hit my leg with his little head and began whimpering. I knelt down and pet his head. "Everest baby, calm down. Keep walking honey." I said soothingly as if he could understand me. Usually my voice and my petting would make him calm down but it didn't work. He kept whimpering louder and louder. I unhooked his leash and picked him up and cradled him my arms.
"Um, young lady?" I turned my head and saw an older lady on her porch. She had silver hair in a bun and wore glasses. She was petting a white lap dog.
"Yes ma'am?" I asked.
"There's a storm coming our way...I hear it's supposed to be bad. That's probably why your cute little puppy is frightened." She explained. That made so much sense. Everest was terrified by storms, like beyond terrified.
"Thank you miss." I said before smiling and turning back to my house.
"Please, call me Gertrude." I grinned.
"Alright, Gertrude... I'm Noah by the way." I told her. She returned the smile and waved. I jogged back to my house and once inside found my mothers, Dakota's and Mattie's face.
"What's wrong?" I asked them.
"Noah, you don't have school because of the storm. It's supposed to be a hurricane hitting the coast." My mother explained.
"But we're like two hours from the coast?" I asked confused. Why would a hurricane affect us. I mean we were in Seattle but pretty far from the actual spot.
"Yes but there's supposed to be some flash floods hitting us. Like maybe two or three inches of rain at the least. It's already hit half of town." Mattie chirped in.
"Alright.. but why the worried faces? I was just walking Everest like I always do." I said. I was still pretty confused.
"Fine. Alright so Meredith called, she said her mother lived in our neighborhood by herself, and asked if she could stay wit us, so she wasn't alone through this storm in case something happens. Unless stated until they can come over here to get her." Dakota finally spilled. Shoot. They were going to come over here. I wasn't ready to see them, well more like him. Oh well. I sighed.
"Okay...." That's all I could say.
"Honey, I know things just started going down hill with you and Aaron, but I just thought it would be rude to say no, they were there for our family with your father, so this was the least I coul-" I cut my mom off.
