Mattie left my room after I licked his nose. I guess he was upset about it. Oh well! I climbed onto my bed and pulled on my favorite FCC hoodie (it was so darn comfy)! It was 9:30 pm on a Sunday night which meant school in the morning, ugh! Was I the only teen who wished Sunday's lasted forever so Monday never had to come? I wonder what would happen if I didn't wake up tomorrow, I thought. Or if a giant twister came and swept my school away from the face of the earth. Or maybe I'd catch Ebola and be exempt from all of my work! I was lost in thought, so when my phone started ringing I jumped. The caller ID said Parker Tompkins. Okay so Parker was my very best guy friend and had been since the 9th grade. He was the star baseball player at Biltmore (my school) and made varsity in the 8th grade. We talked all the time, sometimes about stuff even me and Kila (my closest girl friend) hadn't talked about! I answered the call on the second ring, it was a FaceTime.
The image was hazy at first but after a couple seconds it all cleared up and I could see his blonde hair, brown eyes and dimpled cheeks perfectly. He was such a catch (haha, get it because he plays baseball).
"Hey!" Parker said his voice sounding huskier than usual.
"Um.. hey, pretty boy"- that's what I sometimes called him-"what's up with your voice?" I said smugly. He always used that voice when he tried to impress some girl because he had a rather high voice for a 17 year old.
"I'm just trying something different that's all." He said defensively but his face had one of those crooked smiles plastered on it. That was thing about Parker, I could never tell, after all these years , when he was actually joking or not! I spat out a nervous laugh. "Anyway what's up NoNo?" That was his weird nick name for me.
"Nothing much, dreading school tomorrow..... Oh but guess who came home today?!" I told him,my voice went up two octaves with excitement.
"Um I don't know.." Parker said blandly. He hated when I make him guess.
"Oh come on you know who!.... Mattie! You slugger!!" I practically shouted through my phone.
"Your brother! I forgot you had one of those." Parker said sarcastically. What the heck was his problem?!
"Okay P, what's wrong with you? You either have something on your mind or your just being a brat!" I accused him. If something was on his mind then he sure as crap needed to tell me before I reached through this phone and choked him. He was usually always sounded happy when I talked about Mattie, the kid adored him!
"Sorry, I probably do sound a little salty. But yeah actually something is on my mind....." He paused for what seemed like an eternity. I bugged my eyes so he could see them clearly through the phone. When he noticed, he hesitated to continue." Well you know that girl I used to um date.....?" He didn't even need to finish his sentence before I knew where this conversation was going. (Long story short there was this really cute tennis player, Amanda, and Parker was crazy about her but they had this awful off again on again relationship which always ended up hurting Parker so every time I heard about it it drove me nuts which is probably why he was hesitant on bringing it up).
"What about her, Parker?" I responded.
"Well, she wants to get back together and I don't know what to do about it?" He sounded so sincere which made me wanna puke! Ugh.
"Honey, why are you even considering this? It's too stressful for the both of us. Amanda doesn't deserve your time or love and you can do so much better than-"
"YEAH PARKER SHE DOESN'T DESERVE YOU MAN YOU SHOULD JUST DUMP HER SORRY-"
"MATTIE SHUT UP!" I interrupted my eaves dropping brother from finishing his sentence. That little butt cheek on a stick! He slid through my bedroom door and plopped next to me on my bed.
"Sorry Parker I was just playing! And you don't have to be so mean Noah, jeesh," Mattie exclaimed.
"That's okay bro, glad you are home." Parker said rubbing his head. He raked his hand through his hair.

Me and Parker talked (With a few interjections from Mattie) for about two more hours before we came to the conclusion that he was gonna try out this relationship between him and Amanda this last time and if it didn't work then he'd end it for good.....
After I hung up the phone I glanced at my clock and saw that it was 11:47. I had to be up in like 7-8 hours! I jumped out of my Justin Bieber covers and walked over to my closet, might as well pick my outfit for tomorrow. I pulled out my favorite black leggings a black tank top and a red Aztec sweater (man I loved November) and some cute combat boots. Then I went downs stairs to get a glass of milk. I found a worried and stressed version of my mother in the kitchen signing a bunch of papers. She had a cup of red wine in front of her and a half burnt cigar between her fingers. What the-?
"Mom what's wrong?" I asked nervously. How many cups had she had? She looked up for her papers and was startled to see me standing there. Mom shoved the papers from eye view and smashed the cigarette under her cup.
"Noah... Hey um what are you doing up?" She said to me. There were red rings under her eyes, like she'd been crying. I could tell she tried to divert the conversation but I wasn't letting that happen."Have you been crying ?"
"Yes, no. It doesn't matter I asked you a question didn't I." Her voice got louder and crueler as she finished her sentence. I took a step back. She could see the fear and confusion probably plastered all over my face and she widened her eyes and sighed. "Look I'm sorry. Um but yeah what are you er doing up?" She began stumbling over her words.
"Mattie and I were talking to Parker and I was getting my usual cup of milk before bed...." We both didn't say anything for a while after that. I figured that'd be the best time to pour my chocolate milk. After I finished ,I started walking back to the stairs when Mom called my name. I trudged back to the kitchen. "Yes?"
"We need to talk about something"Hey guys thanks for reading my book this far! Hope you enjoy. I'm sorry these chapters are short but I'm making the others longer.
