Chapter 30: Name of the baby and coming home

After a few hours of waiting in the bed, and sharing holding our son, I was able to get up and take a shower. The hot water running over my aching body felt exactly like heaven. I was assisted by a nurse, it did feel weird but was so desperate for a shower I didn't care.

So our son, weighed 9lbs 3ounces, his heart is steady and so is his breathing. He's a very healthy boy, he was born at 06:26am. I loved him so much, Jimmy and myself were still thinking of names to call him.

I got back into bed wearing some pyjamas Higgins had brought for me from home, I was getting ready to change his first diaper. "Guys he is so handsome" Higgins said holding his little finger, I smiled widely. "Steve?" I got his attention, Jimmy was napping in the chair next to my bed. "Yeah?" he questioned.

"Jimmy and I were talking, and since I don't have any family my side, I wondered if you would kinda like to be his grandfather? You're like a father to me and I know he has Jimmy's parents as grandparents but I want him to have a grandparent from my side too" I was emotional, I could feel tears in my eyes. "Oh my Y/N Of course I would love that. Absolutely!" Higgins hugged me gently.

After a few days in the hospital for observations on me and the baby, I was finally discharged and allowed to go home. Jimmy had borrowed a carrier that was used for Franny to get her home after the hospital too, "So whats the plan?" I asked as we walked to Jimmy's truck. "I've called all family and friends to the apartment, including Nancy. Winnie and Franny are gonna be there too" Jimmy smiled, he looked so tired as he set the baby in the back and we hopped in the front.

The drive back to the apartment was quiet, I constantly kept turning in my seat to make sure he was alright and wasn't in any struggle. He was sound asleep, "Thank you Jimmy for giving me one of those" I chuckled pointing to the baby, Jimmy chuckled too and patted his crotch "Good job pal!".

As the pain relief went off, I found myself to be sore down there, the doctor advised me I shouldn't have sex for atleast a few good weeks. Which I was happy about because after just having a baby sex is the last thing on my mind right now.

We pulled up outside of the apartment, Jimmy carried the baby carrier and we walked into the elevator. Jimmy said he would announce the birth during a monologue on his show at the next taping. He was taking a hiatus currently to get everything settled. Arriving at our door it was strangely quiet, as soon as we walked in everyone stopped and looked at us, in shock. Jimmy removed the baby from the carrier and held him in his arms, "Mom, dad, friends and family. Please may I introduce our newborn son Grayson James Fallon to the family." everyone gasped and then applauded quietly, Jimmy's mom walked up to him crying, "This is my new grandson?" she sobbed holding her hands to her mouth. "It is mom. Isn't he gorgeous?"
Nancy walked up to me with Franny in her arms, "Congratulations. He's so beautiful" she smiled wide showing her perfect white teeth.
"Thank you Nancy" I felt awkward
"I hope we can all be friends so the girls can interact with Grayson" she smiled hopingly
"Yes of course! Maybe we could get a coffee sometime and start over?" I asked with a glimmer of hope
"I would like that" she smiled back.
