Lucas's POV:

I'm not so sure of how I feel. I always thought Riley and I would be together. But when we finally sat down and went on that date a long time ago, it was like we didn't know how to talk to each other.

I don't want to sound conceited... But I know Riley likes me. And I thought I liked her back.

Is it weird... That I see Riley as a best friend than a GIRLfriend?

--------------------------------------------------------

I decided to go to the local bakery with Zay just to hang out with one of my best friends and get a break from all this drama.

"Soo... Maya." Zay said with a hopeful tone.

"Not again Zay... "

"C'mon. I mean... You and Maya.."

"Look. I don't wanna talk about this. I came to hang out and talk about something besides the girls."

Zay never replied and we stayed silent as I continued eating my small slice of apple pie.

"Lucas?" I heard from a soft voice behind me.

I recognized that voice.

"What're you doing here Farkle?"

"I need to talk to you."

"Farkle, I don't want to talk about the girls right now."

"Maybe I want to. I want you to find you're feelings."

"Theres to much things going on right now."

"You'd rather talk it out right now, then later."

"The girls aren't even here for me to tell them anything or what I've been wanting to say." I said, upset of how Farkle was acting.

"Who said I was alone?" Farkle replied as both, Riley and Maya walked in.

Riley had a permanent smile on her face, while Maya's head was looking at the ground.

"Lucas..." Riley said in a sad tone.

I never wanted to upset Riley. I never wanted to upset Maya.

"It's not what it seems like."

"Lucas... I know already. I know you like Maya."

"And Maya, I know you like Lucas."

Maya looked up at Riley with concern on her face.

"Friends don't keep secrets away from each other! Especially these kind of secrets."

"Maya! It will always be me and you. You shouldn't be afraid to tell me how you feel!" Riley said to Maya. Maya didn't say a word.

"I know what you're thinking Riley... But-"

"Lucas! I've seen the way you look at her." She said interupting me.

"I've seen how you look at each other in class."

"I see the happiness in you guys when you joke around."

"And Lucas... I don't know how to do that. So I'm better off being you're "best friend" than a unsure girlfriend."

"And Maya.. I want you to be happy. I'm doing this all for you're happiness. It will always be me and you." Riley said, as she left the bakery.

I ran after her, there was more I needed to say.

I ran to her apartment to her bay window. I knew she would go there.

As I predicted, she was sitting there, right at the bay window.

I opened the window and she turned to look at me.

"Lucas? More to say?"

"Actually. Yeah. Thats why I came here."

"What else do you have to say?" She questioned.

"What are we?"

"I'm not sure. But I know were not going to be together. I don't know who I like. But you know who you do."

"Riley, weve always been a "thing." What happened?"

"Maya's my best friend. I want her to be happy. And you are her happiness. And I don't want to get in the way of that."
