Chapter 1//Lucaya

Maya's POV:

Normal day. I walked over to the bay window to start the day off with Riley. She was my little sunshine that kept me going everyday. My best friend.

Planting my face on the window, I forced Riles to open the window letting me in. Suprising to see her already getting ready before I would open the window myself.

"What makes ya wanna get ready so fast?" I asked smirking a bit.

"8th grade did just start off a week ago. I need to take this a lot more seriously than last year." She replied looking for her phone on the bed... Because she always ended up loosing it when she went to sleep.

"Is that the only reason?" Smirking even more.

"Um.. Of course.." Riles replied looking unsure of herself.

"Is it because of Huckleberry that you want to look good?"

She never replied back and continuously searched on her bed.

Huckleberry was Riley's crush, Lucas. They have a uncertain relationship as if they don't know if they like each other or not. But I think their cute how they are. I've never had a problem with those two.

My heart leads to Joshua. Riley's uncle. He doesnt sound as old as he seems. He' s tall, handsome, and his eyes.... Ooooo.

Anyways... About Lucas, I personally call him Huckleberry well... Because he's a country boy who rides sheeps, and gets annoyed at times when I call him certain names, and it's fun to joke around with him.

Especially when he gets mad. Whoo! He's like the bulls at his hometown. But I find it entertaing. Hah... See I can't help myself from joking about him. I have many... many nicknames for him. Huckleberry, Ranger Rick, the list goes on.

Enough babbling about boys...

*20 minutes later*

Riley found her phone and we were on our way to school. Specifically John Quincy Adams Middle School. First period was always History, and Riley sometimes hated it since... Her teacher is her dad. But I like him. He lets us talk in class whenever we want and share our feelings. Sometimes... It feels like were not learning about History, but life itself.

But if you didn't know. I was the rebel and Riles was sunshine. I didn't like learning much, and I sneak out of my room a lot. But I do this for my sunshine. To come spend time with her. She was like a sister.

We were usually the first to get to class, which I liked.

"Hi Mr. Matthews!" I said.

"Hello Maya!" He replied.

"So are we going to learn about some fun history!" I said sarcastically.

"Very funny Maya... And what do you think? This is history Maya.."

After small convos with Mr. Matthews, other students would come in. Lucas, Yogi, Farkle, Zay and a lot more. Lucas sat right behind me. Giving me a lot of time to joke around with him about his nicknames.

Zay always smiled when I turned back and or said something relating to Lucas. I wasn't sure what that meant. But I know that I'll never like Lucas. He's just an 'ol country friend.

Riles used to get mad when I did those things. But I'm not sure why...

First chapter!! Ya like? GMW is life so I had to make this story. More coming up, and please tell me how you thought of this first chapter. Really helps me improve my writing. <3
