He strummed his guitar testing the strings before starting to play an unknown song.
"May I ask you for this dance Darling?" Charlie held out his hand and I smiled softly nodding my head. We both got up and he led me to the dance floor. He placed his hands around my waist and I sat mine on his shoulders.
A deep husky voice filled the room that matched along with the rhythm of the guitar.
"You had me at hello,
Just the way that you spoke,
You left me there,
Thinking about you girl.
With that smile that you've shown.
It made me was to tell you now,
Just how I felt, about you girl."
Charlie gave me a grin and I looked over at Dalton as he strummed the guitar slowly.
"Come back now,
Please don't leave, stay near me,
I don't want you to go, don't turn you back on me...no.
Let me tell you something, please.
You had me at hello,
I only want to know,
How you came to be.
Oh, won't you stay with me....
I want you by my side,
I want to call you mine,
I never want to leave your sight,
With that look in your eyes,
The smile that you give,
With what you said to me.
You had me at hello,
With the way you spoke,
Let me tell you something, please."
Charlie and I were just standing while I was staring at Dalton as he sung. The song was amazing and I knew that he couldn't be talking about anyone.
"Hello, Angel!
Smile for me please,
Let me hold you close to me,
Don't turn on me, never go away.
I only want to say, let me tell you something, please.
That look in your eyes, the smile that you gave,
When I spoke to you and said with a grin on my face
...You had me at hello"
The crowd erupted into an applause for Dalton and I stood there shocked as I watched him smile into the crowd. His cheeks were a deep red and I could feel mine redden as I clapped for him. Charlie stood there was a grin on his face for his friend.
"Thank you," Dalton spoke lastly and then left the stage. The clapping continued for a couple more seconds before dying down. Charlie was left chuckling as he led me over to the stage stairs. Dalton sat the guitar back stage before coming down the stairs. He stopped in front of me and smiled shyly. "Surprise," He smiled.
"I don't know what to say," I couldn't help but smile as I hugged him suddenly. I didn't know how else to react. He laughed and hugged me back pulling me close to him.
