Mishka barked loudly, making me jump. I turned to see that she was barking at something moving around outside. On closer inspection, it was just a few leaves being blown away by the wind.
I giggled and petted her head. "It's just the leaves and wind outside, baby girl."
Aleks came down from the shower moments later. "You hungry?"
I nodded my head, watching as Aleks pulled out his phone to order some pizza. I smiled and went back to playing with Mishka.
Soon enough, the doorbell rang. I went to answer it, wallet ready to pay for our food. Only, the pizza guy wasn't there. Standing on my front porch were three little kids and an adult all dressed up in costumes.
I smiled wide as the kids yelled, "Trick or treat!"
"Hang on, I'll get the candy." I stepped into the kitchen and grabbed the orange and purple bowl filled with sugary sweets. I placed some candy into each of the kids' bags, even giving a candy bar to the parent. They left happily and I sat back down.
When he doorbell rang next, Aleks answered it, ready to pay for our pizza. Again, there were little kids yelling their Halloween mantra to get candy. Aleks smiled and gave them their food, then sat back with me.
By the third time, we assumed it was kids again. I had the bowl all ready, only to be met with the pizza delivery guy. We chuckled at each other as Aleks came over, paying for the food.
"Happy Halloween!" The guy shouted as he left.
"Happy Halloween!" We yelled back. We decided to leave the candy bowl outside with a note saying to only take one.
We sat down on the couch with Mishka, eating out pizza. We watched scary movies all through the night. Towards the end of the third SAW movie, I began to get sleepy.
I cuddled up to Aleks, glad that we could relax for the holiday. We had even dressed Mishka in a little pumpkin costume.
"I love you." Aleks whispered, kissing the top of my head.
"I love you, too.." I muttered before closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
