Childhood Best-Friends

Chapter nine

Friday night

"Alright I'll go get Dawn and you get Parker from school" Scottie said, we were currently standing outside our place deciding who was picking up who, it ended up being Scottie who went next door to get Dawn while I walked down the road to pick up Parker from school. I stood in a tall rock seeing over all of the parents just as the end bell went and all of the kids piled out, Parker came walking out with a group of friends but as soon as he saw me he was running so I jumped off of the rock landing on the ground just as his arms were wrapped around my torso giving me a hug

"Did Scottie send you" he asked, I shrugged

"It was either pick you up or pick Dawn up from next door and Scottie said that they wouldn't give her to me because they don't know me so here I am" I explained, he nodded as we started talking back home "Scottie and I are going to be having a couple of friends over so if you want, you and Dawn can go into your room with some snacks and watch T.V after dinner" I told him, he nodded

"Who's cooking" he asked, I signed

"Scottie can't cook so probley me unless we order pizza or something" I said

"No, no, no nooooo, you have to cook, we haven't had you cook something in forever" he whined making me smile so I nodded

"When we get home, I'll have a look at what I can cook" I said and this time he was smiling but bigger and brighter. Indeed when we got home I went straight into the kitchen and had a look at what I can cook but there wasn't really anything until I came across some carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes and pumpkin along with some pork spare ribs, I cut up all of the vegetables and put them onto a cooking tray then added honey on top before putting it in the oven, I put the pork on as well before putting some seasoning on it then waited for it to cook. Whenever dad and mum would have me for the night Parker, Scottie and Dawn would make me cook because to them I was the best cook, of course after mum, and they loved it when I cooked so whenever I can I still do a little cooking every once in a while

"So what are we having" Parker said walking into the kitchen followed by Dawn and Scottie, who walked over to me putting his arms around my waist from behind resting his chin on my head... basically trapping me in his arms "wait, are you two..." Parker trailed off, Scottie and I nodded making him jump in excitement but then he turned to us and explained "about bloody time the two of you got together, Scottie wouldn't shut up about you when we all heard you would be living with us, Dawn and I said that it wasn't long until the two of you got together... now have fun telling mum and dad" Parker said

"They would understand, wouldn't they, mean Winter and Scottie have been inseparable since they met" Dawn said, all three of us looked at her surprised to see that she knows such a big word but she just shrugged "mummy got bored so she introduced me to a dictionary a couple of months ago and now I'm glued to it" she said "and I go to mummy or daddy when I need help with a word" she added before she turned around and bounced up the stairs and into her room, I turned to Parker

"You can go watch T.V if you want, I'll call both of you when dinner's ready and if you want you can met our friends" I added

"Fine but I'm acting shy" he said

"Sometimes I really think that you are related to snow here" Scottie said nodding down at me

"I'll be with Dawn" Parker said, we both nodded as he two bounced up the stairs and turned into Dawn's room but as he was about to close the door, he poked his head out again and yelled "and Winter, just thought to let you know but Scooby doo is on Go" he said then closed the door fully, as soon as he said Scooby doo I was already running to the living room turning the T.V on leaving Scottie walking after me as I jumped on the couch from behind just as Scooby doo came on the telly.
