I hadn't noticed the weather take an unexpected turn.

Mist started to creep around the forest, covering it in a blanket. I could hardly see in front of me and felt truly lost as I had travelled deep in there, trying to find Jared.

There was no end to the trees. I was in desperate need of help. The roots of the trees had reached out, trying to trip me. My heart beat faster and faster with every step I took.

A twig snapped nearby and a slight gasp escaped my lips. My legs stopped moving for a second because of the anxiety taking over me. Why wasn't Jared calling me anymore?

"Avery!"

It was Jared! He was actually calling me, right there at that moment. Years I had been waiting to hear his voice again. It was ringing out through the forest, luring me closer.

"Jared! Where are you?!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.

All I wanted was to see his face again. To hear him speak to me and watch as he smiled at my childish ways.

Had he changed at all in the past years? Maybe he didn't even like me anymore. He could just feel guilty for abandoning me with Alpha Gregory. That might be the main reason he came to help me. Guilt. It can play a huge part on a person's actions.

Before I could venture further into the forest, a large pair of hands grabbed me and yanked me backwards. I let out a quick yelp of surprise and fear before being turned around. Immediately, I realised how stupid I'd been. It was Alpha Gregory.

"You stupid girl! How dare you try running away! Did you seriously think that little wuss Jared was coming to save you?" He shouted at me, making me shiver in fear. What would my punishment be this time?

"Sorry Alpha-"
"Shut up. We're going back now anyway, stupid brat." He interrupted me. Then, simple as that, I was yanked along by the Alpha with two or three pack members following us.

A few times, I glanced over my shoulder, wishing that Jared would be there. But, there was no sign of the wolf boy. Many times, my hopes were raised only to realise it was a little forest critter or something.

"Avery!" Shouted a voice. It was Celia.

I felt a little guilty because I had left without a warning at all for her. She must have had to do all of the chores for herself. Hopefully she had one of the other girls help her at least.

"Sorry I ran off." I mumbled and trudged inside, not caring if the others thought I was being moody. Silently, Celia followed me to our room and sat with me on the bed. She put a thoughtful arm around me, comfortingly.

"I really thought it was him that time, Celia." I said, fighting back tears.

"That boy? The one you were telling me about?" She questioned. I just nodded forlornly at her.

"I was out there, and I could swear I heard his voice calling me, so I went deeper into the woods and got lost." I shrugged.

Celia just sat there in the dark, listening without raising an eyebrow at my last bit of hope. She knew I longed to be away from the dark, menacing place we called home. Really, she knew she wanted it to, she just didn't have someone to wait for.

"You never have told me how you met him." She ventured, almost trying to change the topic.

"Well, it all started when I was on a helicopter ride and it crashed. I was all alone until a wolf appeared out of nowhere. He was what kept me going through those days in the wilderness." I explained all about my past life. How I fell in love with that gorgeous boy that appeared in the forest one day, and of course about how I knew he'd come find me.

"So Jared was Blaze, looking out for you that whole time," started Celia, "it obviously wasn't his decision to let you come here. If you ever see him again, tell him how you feel while you have the chance!"

Grateful of her kindness towards me, I smiled. She had always been there for me. Even as a childish little kid. What would I have done without her being there? Who knows.

I smiled at all the memories. When she would play all the little kid's games without calling me childish or stupid like the other kids. Celia would always stick up for me against them. The big sister I never had.

"Hey little miss daydream, lets get out of this dump," Celia called to me from the door, fixing her hair into a ponytail. I nodded and hopped off the bed, jogging after her.

"Ahh. The two brats have come to clean up this mess." Announced Alpha Gregory.

I looked down to see that the pack children had been playing around, knocking over furniture and leaving books scattered across the floor. Most books were left undamaged but one that Celia had picked up was covered in blackcurrant juice. She sighed, tossing it in the bin.

"Lets get started," I muttered, annoyed. Celia nodded, a sincere look on here face as she started cleaning up the mess. I sighed and joined her.
