"You can open your eyes now"
My hands slowly left his body after I was clinging onto him for dear life. We were in Coven's library, no longer on our front lawn.
My eyebrows creased and i actually felt beat grind against my bones. "What are you?" What was he? He just made us disappear into a puff of smoke, what creature/cross breed can do that?
He bent down close to my face, his hot and minty breath fanned my face as he smoke in monotone "I told you" he said "If you knew what I was. You'd run"
"I wouldn't run" I said but I don't remember my lips moving.
He laughed softly but his laugh lacked humour, it was desultory "You would run Elyza"
"Elyza!"
Coven's voice snapped me back to reality like a twig. I took a step away from Noah and tried to shake the sickly/uncomfortable feeling he just gave me, it tingled my bones and made acting normal almost impossible "Hi Coven"
The old man came wobbling down the stairs with a big grin on his face. A part of him reminded me of grandpa, I've never actually met him; mom said he died when she was little but I've seen pictures and Coven looked exactly like him. "Thank you for coming"
I smiled.
"We can't conduct tests tonight-"
"Tests?" I gasped "No one said anything about tests"
From the corner of my eye I saw Noah's head bow and a low chuckle escape his lips. "Scared Angel?" He muttered.
I rolled my eyes "No not really- there not painful tests are they?"
Coven chuckled loudly "No dear of course not"
"My parents don't know where I am" I said softly. The guilt seeped through my veins, they'll come home and find me gone but their first thought wouldn't be 'oh she's at the institute' their first thought would be 'where has she gone with Tom?'
"It's taken care of" Coven flapped his hand flippantly "We sent a messenger bird"
My eyes shifted in confusion "A messenger bird?"
Coven raised his arm and whistled. Soon a bird flew into the room gracefully, it's body coated in beautiful shades of reds, Oranges and yellows. It looked like the sun silhouetting and it looked breathtaking, it's wings weren't as large as mine but I knew they would grow full size one day. I watched in aw as it perched itself on Coven's arm and stared at me.
"It's a Phoenix" Noah whispered. Subtly making his way beside me.
The corners of my mouth twitched into a smile "The bird which rises from the ashes in rebirth. I can't believe they actually exist"
"If Siren exists Elyza. A Phoenix would too" Coven smiled. "We sent her to deliver a message, you parents were home when we went it a few minutes ago and they were quite amazed that a bird this size bowed in their presence and dropped a letter on their front door"
I pursed my lips to stop a laugh escaping "What did Josh think of the bird?"
He sighed amusingly "He wanted to ride it"
