A/N: wow I need to make my author's notes shorter! Anyways, you might be getting mysterious updates too about the same chapters you've already read, but I realized that my computer didn't save my grammatically correct chapters! ;-; so that happened. I'm done talking now. Thank you!!!
Hanji's POV~
"L-Levi...?" I stare into his grey eyes, and he stares back. Was he real? Did I hit my head too hard on the hardwood floor? I can't believe it. There's no way.
Levi stares back.
"Hanji." His voice seemed like it had no expression. His left leg bends to kneel in front of me. His facial expression looked the same. "Hanji," He says again. My heart raced in anticipation of what else he'd do. This is real. It can't actually be, can it? He reaches his hand out to my stringy hair. I felt the strands of it being slightly pulled by his hand rubbing them between his fingers.
"Levi," I say smiling weakly. Tears welled up in my eyes, and my smile twitched on its edges because of my hiccups. I reached both arms out for a sign of affection. He takes both arms out and wraps his around me. I embrace them.
Levi's POV~
I couldn't believe it. She's right here with me and in my arms. Her head rests on my shoulder and her tears start to drip from her hazel eyes. I don't think anyone has ever seen her cry before unless if one of her "test subjects" pass away, but this was different. It's like her colors faded away. The back of her neck was covered in welts and bruises when I turned my head.
"Oi. You're going to wet my sleeve with your tears." I say in a casual tone. She giggles a little from my reaction. Instead of sitting on the dirty floor, I decide to lift her up bridal style, and take her to my room. No one was in the hallway while I carried her. That's good.
I try to gently set her down on my bed, but she still holds onto my neck as if I'd leave her alone forever.
"I won't leave you," I whispered in her ear reassuringly. I would never leave her alone. Her arms loosened a little, and I lay her on the bed.
"Levi," she whispers softly into my ear. "Can you get an old looking book for me please? It's under my bed." Her hiccups interrupted every other word she said. I nodded my head and kissed her cheekbone. She still laid in the bed with her eyes closed and a small smile.
I opened the door to her room and looked under her bed. There was a book. The pages weren't aligned evenly like a normal book should be, and the pages were yellow. This is probably one of her Titan theories. Instead of grunting for having to listen to her talk about it nonstop, I had a small grin. I guess I'll learn something new.
As I go back to my room, I noticed that the book was actually really heavy. Maybe it's all of her papers she's supposed to work on. I carry the heavy book back, being careful to not let loose pages slip out. I open the door, and I see Hanji still laying down.
"Oi. I have your book," I gently say. I kiss her sleeping form. She's just like Sleeping Beauty. Beautiful. Her eyes flutter open to her brown eyes. She looks down to see the large, hardcover book.
"Can you read it for me?" She asks quietly. I know that when I open this book, it's going to be bombarded with Titan theories and experiments. I'll still do it for her though. The bed dipped down on the edge, and I lightly lift the cover.
Instead of Titan theories, there were paintings of different landscapes in all sorts of colors. The text in there were tabooed. Where did she get this? I skim through the pages, and there were more painted pictures.
I read the first page.
"Far beyond these walls lie fire water, ice lands, and fields of sand," I started. She cuddles close to my legs, looking at the pictures with... Happiness. I continued reading the words that filled my head and thoughts with wonder. "The ice lands had lights illuminated in the night sky. Blue, green, pink, purple, any color that you can think of. They're believed that the spirits are dancing, visiting their family members and loved ones," I stop for a second. This was... nice. Does this really happen?
