Elijah's POV

Since leaving the party there has been the most 'uncomfortable' silence. My instinct to defend Chelsea's actions instantly took over, but it wasn't until I was trying to defend her actions to Matt and Stefan, who where themselves surprised, shocked and having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that what they'd just witnessed had really happened, that I realized that I was focusing on the wrong people.

Matt and Stefan understood, they'd seen what was said and how she was pushed and they know how hard they have made her life, they knew that one day there was a possiblity that they would push her too far.

But Charlie and Robert cannot possibly understand, this is the first and only time that they have ever witnessed the cruelty of Chelsea's family.

They've always pushed her too far, and despite everything they've ever done, she has continued to love them and allow them to get on with their lives, despite how much it hurt her.

Even though I know how wicked they have been to her, even 'I' cannot comprehend how they could bring Damon into the fold, just to hurt her.

They knew she was heartbroken, they wanted to hurt her further.

Chelsea had wandered away from the party almost instantly, with Niklaus and Kol quickly following behind her to make sure she's not alone, but by the time the rest of us had snapped out of our daze it was too late to follow the three of them, and I knew I needed to stay behind to talk to Robert and Charlie.

After a while, Robert finally agreed to return home with us, to talk about it privately, away from all the prying eyes that had surrounded us. But the whole way home the whole world seems 'scarily silent.'

Upon finally arriving home and stepping inside the house a slight sigh of relief escapes my lips, finally feeling a little more comfortable just to be back home again, where I know Chelsea will return when she's ready.

"Is this it?" Robert asks, breaking the silence with his disapproving tone. Rebekah and I turn to look back at him, unnerved by his tone of voice, yet still a little relieved to hear he's finally talking."You just come home, act like nothing's happened?!"

"What is it, that you want from us?" I ask.

"I want you to 'say' something, 'do' something, 'anything!" He exclaims, angry and confused. "She just 'killed' them!--She 'murdered them in front of our eyes, and you're acting like this is 'nothing?!"

"What happened tonight is not a tragedy." I sternly remind."We will not pretend that it is."

"You don't know what life has been like for her." Rebekah softly defends, appearing to feel a lot calmer than even 'I' am."You 'heard' what they said about Damon. He was 'pushing' her, he 'wanted' to 'hurt' her, he 'wanted' to get a 'reaction' out of her. She even tried to walk away, but as soon as she did it just made him worse. He was 'pure evil,' nothing more and nothing less. He deserved what he got, he's made her whole life miserable, and as her 'father' I thought you of all people would've 'wanted' that man dead." She scolds."You heard what he said about her, and about Damon, how did you 'expect' her to react."

"No 'one,' deserves to die like they did!" Robert exclaims just as Chelsea, Niklaus and Kol walk through the front door.

Silence fills the house once more as my breathing hitches, seeing the way in which Niklaus and Kol are glaring at the back of Robert's head."I assume you're bloody joking." Niklaus growls.
