Klaus' POV

The next morning...

I walk over to the bedroom door, my head hanging low and my heart aching in a way it never has before.

As my eyes lift to see what Chelsea is doing, my eyes flood with tears and the pain in my heart increases even further as I see her packing her bags.

This is it...
This is really it...

She's leaving me...

"Where are you going?" I choke as I walk in behind her.

She jumps, having not expected to be caught."I, uh..."

"You're leaving me--Aren't you..." I choke, completely devastated, crushed and hopeless.

"Klaus. Just 'don't. 'Please." She pleads with a defeated sigh.

"Please. 'Talk' to me!" I beg, rushing to her side."Were you just going to leave without 'saying' anything?!" I stress, desperate to make her stay."Does our relationship really mean 'nothing' to you, anymore?!" I beg for answers, so confused, so devastated, unable to believe that everything that happened last night has just rid her of any feeling towards me at all.

I try to search her eyes, but she looks away, avoiding eye-contact...

"Please!" I plead frantically."Don't do this! Please! You can't leave! I need you, I can't live without you, we're 'engaged!' I don't want to lose you, I can't lose you! I love you, I 'need' you!"

"I'm so sorry, Klaus. But I love him..." She shrugs sadly. "I love Damon, I always have and I always will..."

A cold, sharp pain strikes my heart, stopping it completely.
I grow cold and numb, yet I feel 'every single part of my body aching.'

My brows furrow in disbelief, unable to breathe, unable to believe that it's 'Damon' she's choosing when I thought he would have been the 'last' one she would choose.

"If this means that I can save his life, I 'have' to take it. If this means that I can stop that curse from taking hold of him, I 'have' to do this."

"What about 'me?!" I plead, desperately."What about 'us,' what about our 'lives together,' what about everything that's to come?! I thought you loved..."

"Well, I don't." She snaps coldly, causing my breathing to hitch.

I gasp for air, the air knocked out of my lungs, unable to process the cold, cruel, untrue words that have just left her lips.

"I thought I did, but--I 'don't', Klaus." She brings her eyes back to mine, my breathing hitches again seeing how 'empty' and 'unfeeling' they are, completely 'vacant.'

How can she appear to not care at all, watching me while I suffocate on her painful words, with no sorrow in her expression, no love in her eyes...

This can't be happening...
This can't be real...
This isn't 'her,' this isn't how she'd act, this isn't what she'd say, it's like I'm looking at my worst nightmare, yet it feels too real to be a nightmare...

I step forward, my body inches away from her as I look down into her beautiful honey-brown eyes for what could be the last time. I try to breathe in her scent, study the softness of her skin and her dark brown hair, everything that I can, fearing that this is the last memory I'll ever be able to share with her...
