It was another bitterly cold winter day in London. Why I put myself through this hell, I would never know, okay I knew why I did it. Music had always been a passion of mine from a very young age as cliché as that sounds, but my parents never approved. I came from a family of Doctors, but when I told them I wanted to be a musician, they laughed in my face, parenting 101 right there.

They indulged my 'hobby' as they called it throughout high school, buying me a violin than a keyboard and lastly my guitar as well as lessons. However, when it came to higher education, they put their foot down and told me I had to get a proper degree that would get me a well-paid job. I got into a music school in London, and they half paid my tuition, but I had to pay for everything else, including rent. They cut me off once I graduated and now I busk on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays all while working at a music shop during the week that paid pennies but I was good at fixing instruments.

Music was my escape in high school and even at the snooty music school; I was bullied because of my eyes. I have one bright green eye and one bright blue one; I refused to wear coloured contacts because I could accept and felt comfortable in my skin. Yes, I was beaten up, bloodied and bruised but I took all the negatives and put them into songs. It also didn't help that I dressed differently. I didn't believe in wearing designer clothes made you a better human being. I wore an odd array of colours, patterns, and fabrics from vintage and charity shops. I use to have brown hair in dreadlocks, but now half my head was shaved, and I had streaks of purple in the other half. Quite frankly I liked when people stared at me because usually, they'd put an extra 20p into my bucket.

Today I was wearing a pair of ripped at the knees dark green skinny jeans, brown army boots, a black long sleeve top, a paisley green and gold waistcoat that had seen better days and black fingerless gloves. I had a favourite charity shop in Soho that sold the wackiest vests known to man, and the owner always gave me a discount because I practically lived there.

I'd just finished two covers, Better Off Dead by Sleeping With Sirens and Fallen Angels by Black Veil Brides and a nice little audience had gathered. I had the prime busking spot in Leister Square where the money was good because a lot of tourists passed through.

'Okay so now I'm going to perform a couple of original songs so don't go anywhere. The first one is called Exit Wounds and the second is called Hear Me.'

Exit Wounds (The Script)

My hands are cold
My body's numb
I'm still in shock
What have you done
My head is pounding
My vision's blurred
Your mouth is moving
I don't hear a word

And it hurts so bad
That I search my skin
For the entry point
When love went in
And ricocheted
And bounced around
And left a hole when you walked out yeah
