Chapter Twenty Two: Last Young Renegade (FINAL CHAPTER)

THREE MONTHS LATER

ALEX

Warped was over and Kara and I jumped straight into finding the perfect apartment. She wanted to stay close to the city but wanted more green space where we could go on walks and maybe get a pet. We got the puppy before the apartment, by pure chance actually. Kara was walking past a park when she saw a poster advertising Labrador puppies, I insisted it was dodgy, but she persisted, and we drove over to the house which looked inviting. The couple's Labrador had eight puppies, and they couldn't keep all of them so they were selling them to good homes. They'd all been checked over by a vet, and I was sold it was legal. Kara fell in love with a little black puppy, the other seven being golden, so we took him on the spot.

'I can't believe we found somewhere this perfect,' Kara gushes, looking up at our new front door.

I can't keep the smile off my face as she goes to put the key in the front door, then an idea pops into my head, and I act on it before she can open the door. I scoop her up in my arms.

'Put me down, Alex,' she squeals.

I shake my head, 'I want to carry my beautiful girlfriend over the threshold of our new apartment.'

We walk inside, and Kara rests her head on my chest, 'one day we'll be married, and you can carry me over the threshold properly.'

It was nice that she was planning our future together already. But this joy was going to be short-lived because Beyond The Sin were going on a headlining tour around Europe while All Time Low hit the States so we'd be away from each other for a few months.

Kara squirms out of my arms and throws herself on the sofa, 'stop thinking about the tours Alex, I hate to see you pout. The days will fly by, and we can message each other daily.'

'My girlfriend is the best,' I reply, shouting it loud and proud.

Kara blushes, 'stop it, Alex, we don't want to annoy the new neighbours.'

Our puppy comes trotting up to the sofa and jumps on top of Kara licking her face, 'I think he'll miss you more than me.'

Kara plays with him, and I soon join them on the sofa, and he jumps all over me instead.

'Now I think he loves us equally, Alex.'

THREE MONTHS LATER

We were part way through our European tour and had a few days off in France. I wasn't moping around, but according to the rest of the band I was depressed and moody because I couldn't see Alex. All Time Low were halfway through their tour so we'd be done before them, but both our schedules were hectic.

Dylan comes up to where I was sat in the back lounge wrapped in a blanket watching Friends on Netflix and throws an envelope at me, 'open this, go to your man, then come back all happy and giddy.'

I open the envelope, and a plane ticket falls out, and my eyes widen, 'oh my God Dylan, you guys are the best.'

I jump up and engulf my best friend in a hug, she laughs and hugs me back, 'we want smiley Kara to come back, understood?'

I nod, 'I'll smile so much my cheeks hurt.'

~Skip Plane Ride~

After picking my bag up from baggage claim, I head out and stop in my tracks seeing Zack of all people waiting, holding a sign with my name on. I shuffle over and catch his eye, 'Zack, what are you doing here?'

He grins ear to ear, 'I'm here to pick you up. Come on, we have places to be.'

I let myself be guided out of the airport and into the back of a taxi. Zack gives the driver instructions to take us to some club where the guys had a show tonight. This had all been planned by both bands, it was so thoughtful, and I was ecstatic to be reunited with Alex shortly.

'Does Alex know I'm coming?' I ask.

Zack shakes his head, 'I'm not telling you anything.'

Okay, now I was kind of confused but would go along with whatever plan both bands had come up with.

We get to the venue where Rian and Jack are waiting by the stage door. They both engulf me in bear hugs, and I feel loved.

'I missed you guys so much-'

'We missed you more,' Jack cuts me off midsentence.

The four of us head inside and go straight to the backstage area where Alex was warming up his vocals. Zack clears his throat and pushes me forwards, just as Alex turns and can catch me in his arms before I fall over.

'Hi babe,' he chuckles, 'still falling for me, I see.'

I slap his chest, 'no, Zack pushed me. Is something going on? I feel like something's going on that I don't know about.'

Alex shares a look with the other guys who all shake their heads.

'Nothing's going on,' they say in unison.

I didn't believe any of them one little bit, I was just happy to be back in Alex's arms. Alex gives me a quick kiss on the lips before stating the band had to get on stage. He makes sure I'm stood side stage as the guys run on stage.

ALEX

I hated keeping secrets from Kara, but I didn't want to ruin the big surprise I'd been planning the last couple of months. Her band and my band came up with a plan to get her here so I could ask her something big.

Halfway through the set I stop and clear my throat, 'excuse me guys I have something important to say.'

I make eye contact with Kara who still looked confused from earlier then tap the microphone, 'Kara, I know I hurt you badly during our first attempt at a relationship, but since you gave me a second chance I've cherished every moment and I wouldn't change anything for the many special moments we've shared. But now we're both in better places, and I want to spend the rest of my days with you, will you marry me?'

She smiles and runs on stage, 'yes, I'll marry you,' she shouts.

I pull out the small black box and open it revealing a stunning diamond ring Dylan had helped me pick out. Kara gasps as I slide it on her finger, the crowd going wild.

'I love you so much, Kara.'

'I love you, even more, Alex.'

'CONGRATULATIONS!' Beyond The Sin whoop from side stage.

Kara holds onto me with tears in her eyes, 'you got my band out here as well.'

I hold her tightly, 'I'd do anything to make you happy, Kara.'

Kara stands on her tiptoes and throws her arms around my neck, smashing her lips down on mine, not caring that we had an audience. I was going to spend the rest of my life with the busker I fell in love with in London.
