Chapter 7….
Joce Pov
That night Jocelyn couldn't sleep, she felt hot and her hair stuck to her sweaty neck. She had gone as far as lying in an old baggy shirt with a pair of short pajama shirts underneath but she could still feel the slight gaze of salt along her back. Rolling onto her side she squinted at the clock reading the red numbers blinking back the time. It was two in the morning. Since ten she’d been drifting in and out so much that she felt she hadn't slept at all. Pushing herself up she stared at her long bare legs before running a hand through her slightly damp hair. She needed air, cool air. Heaving her legs over the side she heard the floor moan as she creaked her way over to the door. Feeling her heart rate pick up she slid into the dark hall the door closing softly shut behind, a small click igniting the quite night. The lighting was dim from the candles placed along the wall and Jocelyn wrapped her arms around herself unsure of her sudden choice. It wasn't that she was necessarily scared, just uneasy. Taking a step to her left she shook her head. She was being dumb, there was nothing to worry, if they hadn't killed her by now they needed her for SOMETHING. Relying on her feet she carried down the hall feeling as though all the paintings eyes were on her, following her moves. Inspecting the new captive as if on trial. Out of nowhere she felt her senses go on high deaf. As though it was instinct, she whipped her head around getting ready to face the person. Yet no one stood but a dark looming hall.
"I know you're there," she declared her voice faltering. A minute passed then two as she strained her eyes trying to see any outline of a figure. No ones there, she thought shaking her head and turning back around. Only to let out a slight scream before she clamped her own hand over her mouth stifling it. Eyes wide she stared at the guy before her.
"What exactly do you think you're doing?" he demanded crossing his arms over his broad chest and raising an eyebrow. Dressed in a white t-shirt that hugged every muscle and a pair of black sweats she tried not to flush.
"I-I, wait," she said narrowing her eyes, feeling her voice start to kick gear. "Why do you care?"
"Because last time I checked you’re new, and it would do you good to remember that." he said icily taking a step towards her and she involuntarily to a step back. Gritting her teeth her hands clenched. Who was she to be scared of some guy? This was not who she was, someone she refused to spend another minute being.
"I don't take orders from you." There, much better.
"No?"
"No," she snapped as she continued to back up until she ran into the wall, watching as he advanced toward her. He was close now, too close, and she felt her heart pounding loud her blood pulsing in her ears. The glow from the candles licked like snake tongues across his face, showing off the shadows. She dared not breath as she took in his sharp jaw, the way his hair fell all right, and she felt her eyes drifting to his lips. Placing his hands on either side of her head he leaned closer and she forced her eyes to look into his, only wishing last minute she hadn't. They stared back drowning her in their blue and she felt the connection. A magnetic pull between them, she wanted him, and that scared her. Wanted him like she had never wanted anyone else.
"Like what you see," he mused huskily and she felt her breath hitch.
"Not as much as you do," she whispered back swallowing. This was too much, she felt hot all over; her mind was fogged, she couldn't think past his eyes. As if reading her mind he leaned in even closer so his cheek brushed hers, rough stubble grazing her smooth skin.
"Go back to bed," he said his breath steamy against her ear yet his voice was cold. No longer did it hold the playful tone, instead it felt like pins along her skin and she almost winced. Bipolar much? Pushing himself off he wall he turned on her and it was then that Jocelyn realized something. She'd been walking around in a daze for so long she had no idea where he room was, where SHE was.
"Wait," she called hating how desperate she sounded. All previous toughness gone she sounded weak and lonely. Yet he stopped and turned slowly an almost annoyed expression in his eyes.
"What?"
"My room," she pushed back her hair feeling her cheeks grow a hot pink. "I don't, see I-" However he'd already cut her off with a roll of his eyes and started making his way down the hall.
"Come." was all he muttered and Jocelyn obeyed following suit. But he was walking so fast she could barely keep up practically loosing him at times.
"Can you slow it down?" she huffed glaring at his muscular back and he stopped so abruptly she walked straight into. A second later she had been swooped into the air his arms tucked under her legs as her arms almost automatically swung around his neck.
"I don't need-"
"Just shut up," he muttered irritated. Snapping her mouth shut she stayed quiet as he easily made his way through the maze of hallways. Knowing every turn, every catch in the carpet that would’ve caused her to go flailing faster then anything. The only sounds their rhythmic breaths. Soon she had to stifle a yawn and her eyes drooped to the steady pace of his legs. By the time they reached the room she wasn't awake, unable to see the small smile that had crept onto Seth's face as her head lulled, curling her unto his chest.

“Where exactly are we going again?” Jocelyn asked steadily as she followed slightly behind Jay out onto the grounds.
“I already told you, it’s a surprise,” he said shooting her a wide grin, and despite her self-Jocelyn couldn’t help but grin back. It was just Jay’s whole personality, always happy, and every smile surely contagious. Together their feet padded through the grass and Jocelyn snapped the elastic off her wrist pulling her long hair up into a messy ponytail. The days were getting hotter and sweatier, temperatures staring early in the dawn and stretching to long beyond dusk. Even in a tank top and shorts now she could see feel the sun blaze hot against her bare shoulders.
“Is this place,” she said letting out a breath in an attempt to blow the bangs and stay pieces of hair out of her vision. “Air conditioned?”
“Duh,” he said with a chuckle and she bit down on her lip fighting back the smile she knew was obviously winning. From off in the distance Jocelyn could spot two people shooting across the lawns, blurs in the air, as the dune buggies soared. They could only be Sam or Chloe, she figured as she watched the brunette hair stream behind the one. “You were pretty good,” Jay said nodding in the direction of the girls. “Complete natural.” A brief second passed where Jocelyn only stared blankly at him before catching on that he was talking about her totally awful driving skills.
“Right,” she snorted rolling her eyes. “Flattery won’t get you anywhere bud.” He shot her a mocking reproachful look just as they reached a large building. Almost as if the designer had a sudden inspiration and added it on as an afterthought. There were no windows except for the skylights giving nothing away.
“Just so you know this may blow your mind.” Raising an eyebrow she shot him a look.
“Just so you know I think I can handle it.” He only smirked in response as his large hands pushed open the doors.
