Lauren pov

Seth walked down to the table the next morning his head was disheveled in bed head, wearing only sweatpants and an old t-shirt. Lauren's eyes scanned his tired look, the way he only reached for one pure red apple. After that he slumped into a chair groaning and closing his eyes as if he hadn’t for the past eight hours. They were the only two there and Lauren shifted in her seat unsure of which topic to breach. He'd been up all night. She had heard him pacing his room for the longest time, until she'd finally fallen asleep. Stating that she wasn’t a little bit concerned about his state was a lie. She was quite concerned, knowing that he was probably kicking himself for the attack the night before.

"Rough night?" she asked cautiously as she took a bite of her cereal, flipping a page in her novel. It was a romance, so typical, or Sam would think. Yet it was, with the heartbreaking desire the couple had for one another. Forbidden but as true as love could get. The ideal novel for an utterly hopeless romantic.

"The worst." Seth muttered taking a bite of his apple.

"Rogers set up extra protection," She piped up hoping to at least ease some of his stress. Lauren should’ve known better. Almost no one could help Seth when he was stressed.

"Bull shit. We already had the best protection." Lauren didn't know what to say to that yet turns out she didn't have to, because at that moment the massive door to the dinning hall burst open. A beaming Sam walked in, her hair sailing behind her as she briskly made her way to them.

"Sis," she said nodding at Lauren before turning her full attention to Seth.

"How you doing Mr? Tired yet?" she said happily as she reached for the stack of pancakes. To say Sam ate like a pig would be an understatement. She lived to eat, absolutely trying everything once. What amazed Lauren and every boyfriend Sam had ever had was that she was nowhere near fat. Perhaps it could be concluded by the amount of time she spent working out. Or maybe it was the simple fact that others had a higher metabolism then humans. Either way, Lauren felt it strikingly unfair.

"Hello? Earth to Seth!" Sam said waving a hand in front of his face. Lauren rolled her eyes, couldn't she tell he was exhausted? Seth didn't ward her off however, just ignored her. That was their relationship though. They cared about each other more then anything, to say they were more like siblings at times then herself and Sam would be no where near a lie. Figuring that Seth was in his zoned out phase Sam diverted her attention to Lauren. Lauren watched the syrup drip slowly off the piece of pancake she had cut.

"So I hear Becky might be coming back today," she said cutting herself another piece, and shoving it into her mouth.

"Yeah, I heard the same thing." Lauren said darting a wary eye to Seth who had his head lay back on his chair.

"Luke’s ecstatic, dude can't wait," Sam said with a laugh that echoed loud. Bouncing off the empty space around them.

"Why shouldn’t he be, they're others after all," Lauren couldn't help but point out. Sam only shrugged still smiling as she looked at Seth. Frowning she turned to Lauren eyebrows raised. Lauren just shrugged grabbing another spoonful of cereal and turning back to her book. She would not waste her time fretting endlessly over a boy who would never fret so much about her.

  Sam pov

"What do you mean she hasn't gotten up yet?" Sam demanded her hands on her hips.

"Can you blame her?" Luke asked shrugging some blonde bangs out of his face. "She practically got killed last night."

"True. But when I practically got killed a couple months ago I still had to get up at six to train." Luke only rolled his eyes, sliding down the wall so he was sitting on the floor. Deciding she had nothing better to do Sam took a seat beside him, stretching out her legs. Wincing she pointed and flexed trying to loosen up her tense muscles.
