o maybe she had overreacted. That was normal right? When you were in a place you didn't want to be without anyone you really knew the little things were the ones that set you off... right? Shaking her head Jocelyn tried to convince herself out of the truth. Truth being that she had completely and utterly been a bitch. Not even giving him time to explain? She felt herself cringe in disgust at her own actions, her own words. Seeing the hurt look that had briefly crossed his face before turning into anger was enough to set the record straight. Whatever relationship that had begun to develope was long gone, they were back to square one.
Walking down the halls she couldn't help but wrap her arms around herself. Recalling the hurt that had run all the way through her at the thought of betrayal. To say she didn't trust that many people was a complete understatement. She barely trusted anyone. And when she did it always seemed to take forever to get there. It hadn't with Seth, her thoughts voiced throughout her mind. There was no denying it though, for whatever reason she had trusted him completely. Even after everything she still did. She wasn't scared of him, regardless of how tough and murderous his looks could become. She knew that he would never hurt her, and the fact that she had turned her back so easily on him.... she didn't even know. That's the way it had mostly been though since the accident. People would try to get close and she would let them until it came to the point where she couldn't handle it. Couldn't handle the love or the fact that someone actually might care. Or maybe, her thoughts rose up again. It's purely that you can't handle caring.
"No," she said aloud her voice vibrating silently.
"No what?" Jumping slightly at the new comer Jocelyn spun around around her hands clenching into fists as she came face to face with Landon. He was rarely ever seen walking around the Agency, or perhaps he only rarely ever let her see him. Either way she found herself reel backwards as she took in his dark eyes. Raking her the way you might eye your prey.
"Nothing," she said proud of the way her voice was kept steady. Landon wasn't buying it however and when he moved towards her it took everything for her not to back up.
"Really," he drawled reaching a hand out and running a finger down her jawline. Setting her jaw she ignored the cold shivers that snaked up, wrapping around her body from her toes. "Because there's a lot of something going on lately."
"Really." She said mimicking his words from earlier as he drew his hand back. His feet she noticed stayed put.
"Your saying you didn't know? Well I find that rather hard to believe considering it has to do with you." His mouth twitched into a wicked grin and she felt as if all the warm air had been sucked out of air. Only left with a cool mist. "You and Seth anyway." She watched him stare at her absintmindedly as though her was searching for something. "I never really liked that guy." His voice was dark and Jocelyn tried standing a little taller, she was not a coward. "Though I never really liked you either." At his words her blood turned to ice and her heart seemed to freeze for a nano second, before propelling into overdrive.
"You just met me," she snapped her voice rising.
"Ah yes," his tone was casual almost, with a hint of hate hidden beneath the surface. "I suppose I did didn't I?"
"Yes you did."
"But say I had known you before," he continued casually as if she wasn't even present. As though he was just musing to himself. "You wouldn't really know would you? That's the tragic thing about loosing ones memory, you just can't seem to remember." He was mocking her, and he stomach twisited into knots, burning with anger.
"You're sick," she spat and he only smirked.
"And perhaps you're in denial."
"Denial of what?!" But before Landon could even begin to reply the door at the end of the hallway burst open and Jocelyn's head whipped around. Seth was walking towards them and he looked livid. Not even glancing at Jocelyn on the way by he stood off facing Landon. Still Jocelyn couldn't help but notice how he stood slightly in front of her, as if blocking her. And she couldn't help but feel safe.
"Seth, so nice-"
"Shut-up," Seth hissed and just like that Landon's eyes went almost black. Jocelyn moved slightly so she was farther behind Seth feeling her heart pound. "What were you doing with her?"
"Nothing, we were just having a conversation," Landon said but his down was low almost like a growl.
"Right, a conversation." Seth snapped but before either one could continue Jocelyn tugged slightly on his sleeve. Immediately his gaze snapped to hers and she gulped feeling small.
"It's okay, we can just go." Her eyes swept back to Landon who was staring at her his lips tugging up into a sneer.
"Is the little Jocelyn scared?"
"No," her voice was sharp and for a moment she stepped in front of Seth, facing off Landon all on her own. "But I suggest you leave." When Landon actually turned on his heel Jocelyn was rather surprised, watching his retreating back. Though before he immersed himself into the shadows his voice spoke one last time. Loud and clear making sure not one word would be misunderstood.
"You'd better keep her close Seth. And Jocelyn?" She waited for what he might say her hands held tightly into fists. "That top looks really sexy."
