Chapter Four: The Help

Madiline didn't think to put up a camp while she slept on a local bench that night covered up by a her jacket. She sighs putting her hand on her forehead then looks around. What are you doing?

She mutters as she climbs down getting her backpack and puts her jacket on and puts the hood on and starts walking to her school. She crosses the street and enters at a door she was smashed at. She starts walking to the direction the girl was going. Hearing voices she started walking faster but a hand caught her shoulder then pulled at her hands . She hit her attacker thrusting him forwards , seeing the police she put her hand behind her head scratching it embarrassed. Her hood was down from the attack. He looked mad as other policemen stepped beside him in case of back up.

"Sorry sir. I got out of , um" Looks down," Detention ." She looked at them and saw two kids and the police officer close by.

Her attacker nodded," Morning ma'am , I'm Kile and this is Terry and James." He had pointed to the two young men, around thirteen years old nod at her.

The African American boy on the right said," Where are you off to?"

"Home." She lies not meeting his gaze.

The guy on the left said," Have you see anyone named Sapphire ? Long brown hair, tall, blue eyes, two swords?" Sapphire, that's a weird name. Isn't that a birthstone?

She was about to say yes but she would give what she was doing away," Do you know where she went?"

The official police officer said," Hey you're that girl from yesterday! Are you OK?"He reached forward but she jerked away. Noticing her dagger moved she started walking away.

The guy on the left said, " She went to neighborhoods down then off the path in the forest near," the police officer elbowed him.

"Ok then, bye." Walking off quickly she heard the police officers arguing .

"Now she is going to find her now! "

"You don know that! "

"Shut up!..."

She walked out of hearing distance and she sighed and started walking along the neighborhood sidewalk. She looked at all the small houses. She had two brothers and lived in a smaller home than them. She sighed and kept walking crossing a road then entering the last neighborhood she needed to get to. It was pretty early, and guessed that "Sapphire" hadn't been awake. She looked at the houses got bigger and saw a big white one which marked the edge of the block. She saw the path and started running. She walked a couple feet until she saw pebbles on the ground and saw a trail of gravel and started to follow it her hand on her sword. She kept her eyes open and saw the trail ended out saw a couple branches being cracked on the tree and guessed she went up there. All of the sudden she felt someone dropped down and ground and hid behind the tree. Hearing the foot prints race away . She stepped out and saw the police race beside her and realized they were the same and she hid quickly . Racing behind them , fast. Almost on there heel not wanting to be found out. They stayed in a straight line but she saw the cracks of twigs going in a tiny zigzag line . She practiced but fell behind so just kept running . She saw the police stop but she heard trees rattling above her and went around the police following the sound quietly. Falling behind the sound she saw the girl and the wind put her hood down as she followed she saw a fence and the voice dart to the left as the fence led to a private property. She kept following it quickly and she saw the police officer and the two kids talking about a plan as the sound kept making and eave kept falling. She kept going following her deeper into the forest and saw the sun in the middle of the sky. She yawned and the noise stopped and she slid and hid behind a tree trunk. She heard growling coming from the person. Hearing footsteps close in on her she closed her eyes as they stopped . She looked slightly and saw she started picking berries from a bush . Are those even safe? She picked up a rock quietly as the noise of boots started walking away. She threw it and heard hair and a sword being pulled out and then stepping towards the rock and then she threw it back at Madiline as she got hit in the face making a scratch mark across her cheek. She didn't dare move as Sapphire looked straight at her. Her long brown hair reaching to the end of her back. She had two swords but only had one in her hand. She had deep blue eye and she stepped away shrugging. She didn't see her and kept carrying on. She sighed and started to climb a tree again .
