Selynna the Stubborn

It was the next day, and I was walking to school wearing my favourite hoodie.

"Hey! Smart-aleck!" May biglang sumigaw.

I groaned and walked faster.

Narinig ko ung mga footsteps na bumibilis. Tapos biglang may umakbay sakin.

"Anong gusto mo, Xyred?" Tanong ko sa kanya.

"Akala ko hindi ka na magsusuot ng hoodie?" sabi niya.

"Kaya nga. That's why I'm enjoying my last day with my favourite hoodie," I told him.

Parang hindi siya naniniwala sakin.

"Bukas, hindi na talaga ako magsusuot ng hoodie. Promise," I assured him.

He smiled, "Yes naman!"

I rolled my eyes.

"Come on. We might get late," sabi ko sa kanya.

Tapos binatakan niya ako. "Ang aga pa kaya! It's about 7:10 pa lang!"

Then I remembered something. "Hala! Hindi ko nasagutan ung HW sa Physics!"

Tumakbo ako papuntang school.

"Hoy! Wait up!" Xyred called out.

Pero hindi ko na masyado narinig dahil sa sobrang pagmamadali ko.

Nakarating na ako sa school at hindi ko na makita si Xyred.

'Hala! Naiwan ko si Xyred!' sabi ko sa sarili ko.

Hindi ko na alam kung anong uunahin ko. Hanapin si Xyred or ang homework ko sa Physics.

I groaned internally. Xyred or grades?

"Smart-aleck!" biglang may sumigaw sa hallway.

I turned to look. Nandoon si Xyred at hawak niya ung Physics book ko.

He looked horribly stressed.

"Ang bagal mo naman talaga tumakbo," pag-aasar niya sakin.

Stressed na nga, nang-aasar pa rin? Grabe naman.

"I'm an introvert. You shouldn't expect me to run fast," I told him.

"Pshh... Eto na yung libro mo," he said as he handed my Physics book to me.

"May mga sagot na yan," he added.

"Huh?" I asked, confused.

"Pinasagutan ko na yan kay Melanie," sabi niya.

Si Melanie ay isa pa sa mga kasama sa IQ Raisers. Katulad ng ibang girls, crush niya si Xyred.

Tinignan ko kung totoo. May sagot nga!

"Thank you so much, Xyred!" pasasalamat ko kay Xyred for about the 25th time.

"You're welcome na nga po. Paulit -ulit ka eh. Baka kailangan ko pa na sunugin yang libro mo para matahimik ka," he told me. From the look on his face, he was really annoyed.

"Sorry," I murmured quietly.

"It isn't your fault," he told me.

"Huh? Sino?" I asked him curiously.

"I'll tell you at lunch," he replied and he went to his class.

Hala. Sino kaya problema nun? I raced to my Physics class and, fortunately, I wasn't late.

"Alright, class. Pass your homeworks to the front," sabi ng Professor namin. Pinasa ko sa harap yung homework ko at nginitian ako ni Melanie.

Da fudge? Tapos naalala ko na siya nga pala ang sumagot sa homework ko.

I mouthed a 'thank you' to her then went back to listening to the teacher.

Suddenly the door opened, a brunette girl with a slim figure was standing shyly.

I heard my classmates murmuring.

"Good morning po. Sorry, I'm late. Traffic po kase eh," she explained.

"Are you Selynna Mendoza?," our professor asked.

The girl nodded with a smile.

"Well, you do know that you should be in class before 8:00, right?" Sabi ng Prof. namin sa kanya.

"You should have left home earlier so that you wouldn't have been caught in the traffic," dagdag ni Prof.

Our professor probably didn't notice but I saw her roll her eyes.

"Go find a vacant seat," Professor ordered her.

She nodded and sat next to me.

"Left home earlier? Anong gusto niyang mangyari? Gumising ako ng 5 para hindi ako maabutan ng traffic?," I heard her mutter.

Selynna Mendoza. Hindi ba siya ung girl na pinag-uusapan ng mga malalandi kong kaklase?

Bakit siya nandito? Pinalipat ba siya or something?

I shrugged it off as our professor started discussing again.

I glanced her way and saw that instead of copying the lecture to her notebook, she was doodling.

"Uhmm... You should really copy the lecture. Professor might give you detention or something," I suggested to her, once I finally had the courage.

She gave me a smile and replied, "Thanks pero I'm fine. Lagi naman akong walang lecture eh."

Then she went back to doodling on her notebook.

What?! Laging walang lecture?! Babagsak siya kung ganito yung ginagawa niya!

< TIME LAPSE >

*RINGGGG*

"Yes! Lunch na!" I heard one of my classmates exclaim.

We ran out the classroom and went to our respective lockers.

I don't know pero I think I won't like that Selynna girl. She's the complete opposite of me. I don't like that.

After putting my books in my locker, dumiretso ako sa cafeteria.

I looked around for Xyred. I wanted to know kung sino yung nakagalit sa kanya. Unfortunately, I couldn't find him.

I settled for a table at one of the far most ends of the cafeteria and set down my packed lunch. Gutom na talaga ako. Mamaya ko na hahanapin si
Xyred.

Ang baon ko lang naman ay ang favourite ko na sinigang. I finished my food quite fast kaya may time pa ako para hanapin si Xyred.

I walked out of the cafeteria and saw Selynna. She looked extremely injured. Ung malalandi ko naman na kaklase ay pinagtatawanan siya.

Obviously, sila ang may kagagawan nito.

Once umalis sila, nilapitan ko si Selynna.

"Wait right there. I'll call the nurse," I ordered her and ran to the school clinic.

< TIME LAPSE >

"She's right over..." my voice faltered when I realised that she wasn't there anymore.

"Where?" the nurse asked me.

I sighed, "Nevermind, she ran away. She's really stubborn."

The nurse nodded.

"Maybe she just isn't fond of doctors and nurses," the nurse suggested.

'Hindi. Stubborn lang talaga siya,' I thought to myself.

After that commotion, bumalik na ako sa paghahanap kay Xyred.

Nasan na ba kasi yung lalaking yun?
